Democrat Debbie Mucarsel-Powell faced off against Republican incumbent Rick Scott in the race for Florida’s Senate seat.

Scott first came into the political scene back in 2010. That year, he was successful in his bid to become the next governor of Florida. He was re-elected to that position in 2014. Following his run as the 45th governor of the Sunshine State, he defeated the Democrat incumbent to become a Florida senator.

During his campaign to be re-elected as senator, Scott focused on his 12-point plan to take back America.

“Rick Scott knows firsthand that a good paying job is one of the most important things for a family, and following Florida’s economic collapse in 2009, he made the decision to run for governor as a businessman with no political experience. During his term as Governor, he successfully championed more than $10 billion in tax cuts and cut thousands of burdensome regulations that led Florida businesses to create nearly 1.7 million new jobs,” his website states

During his leadership, the state’s unemployment rate dropped from 11% to 3.3%, so “Florida paid down $10 billion in state debt, and record investments were made in what matters most to Floridians – education, the environment, and public safety.”

The Republican was endorsed by 45th President Donald J. Trump on the Truth Social platform.

“I am proud to give my Complete and Total Endorsement to U.S. Senator Rick Scott of Florida in his bid for Re-Election,” Trump said. “I have known Rick for a long time, as both a businessman and great Governor of FLORIDA, and there are few like him! Strong on the Border, Crime, our Great Military/Vets, our Second Amendment, and the only person who has been willing to take on the very destructive Super RINO, Mitch McConnell.”

“Everyone in Florida should help Senator Rick Scott have a big win next year!”

His competitor, Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, served as a U.S. Representative for Florida’s 26th Congressional district. However, she lost her re-election bid in 2020.

Her Senatorial campaign focused on uplifting Social Security and Medicare, lowering health care costs, protecting clean water and the environment, community and child safety, national security, and protecting abortion.

“As an immigrant who worked her way through high school and college at minimum wage jobs, Debbie is running for the U.S. Senate because she knows firsthand that we need to do more to support hard-working Floridians who are struggling. From the rising costs of homeowners insurance to housing to health care, prices are out of control and Floridians are fed up. And to make matters worse, we have a Senator in Rick Scott who is completely out of touch with the real problems that so many in Florida are facing,” her website states.

Unlike many Democrat candidates, she is pro-Israel and supports funding the Jewish State in their ongoing war amongst Middle East Islamists.

Mucarsel-Powell is endorsed by Democrat officials such as Hakeem Jeffries, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama.

Two amendments are at the center of Florida’s elections this year, Amendment 3, which would legalize recreational marijuana use, and Amendment 4, which would legalize abortion across the state.

Scott opposes both amendments, asserting that Democrats are extreme when it comes to abortion and that they allow it up until the moment of birth.

Powell, on the other hand, supports both amendments saying “with women coming out to vote, with these two amendments bringing them out, with independents being really engaged, that’s going to cross the line.”

At the time of this reporting, Scott won with 54.7% of the vote compared to Mucarsel-Powell’s 43.6%. 77% of the votes have been counted.
