An Olympic boxer who caused controversy by entering the female’s competition has reportedly been confirmed as a biological male, according to a leaked medical report.

Algeria’s Imane Khelif won the gold medal in the women’s welterweight category at this year’s Olympic Games in Paris, but their entry into the competition was thwart with controversy. A previous disqualification by the International Boxing Association in 2023, following a report that Khelif had XY (male) chromosomes, was dismissed by the International Olympic Committee, allowing Khelif to participate in the Games.

Khelif was allowed to retain the medal, and leftists were adamant that Khelif is a biological woman. However, a new medical document, first reported by German publication Blid, claimed Khelif to be a “biological male” due to the presence of XY chromosomes. It also claimed that Khelif had male testosterone levels, internal testicles and a micropenis.

News of the medical report was shared on social media by broadcast journalist Piers Morgan, who formerly worked for CNN. Morgan said that Khelif should be stripped of the gold medal, which in turn should be “awarded to the best actual woman”.

Many on social media remembered Italian boxer Angela Carini, who withdrew just 46 seconds into her second round match with Khelif.

Others agreed that the gold medal should be stripped.
