There’s been a lot of speculation about Joe Biden and what he must be thinking about Kamala Harris– since he was shoved to the side and she was installed as the Democratic nominee for the presidency without one vote from the people in the primary.

He was reportedly convinced to step aside on the belief that her chances were better. And while there are certainly had all kinds of questions about Biden because of his cognitive decline, he also brought a lot of things to the table I don’t think the powers that be factored in when they swapped him out.

He at least was a known quantity to people and, at some point, was perceived to be a moderate (even though he’s governed like a leftist), he was liked by unions, he was liked in Pennsylvania. All sort of critical things when it comes to winning an election. Meanwhile, Kamala Harris has none of that, and then she picked someone as a running mate who’s as left as she was, and no one who will help her in Pennsylvania.

Biden, in response, seems to have been making “gaffes” or saying things that could have a harmful effect on Harris’ candidacy, such as calling millions of Trump supporters “garbage” right at the moment that she was delivering her big, closing argument speech in D.C. Is that just the cognitive decline, or is it an attempt to do her in? Many think it might not have been accidental.

Now, there’s another interesting note of tension between the two, as early signs are not looking good for Harris.

Joe Biden will not be attending Harris’ Election Night watch party that she’s holding at Howard University. That’s less than two miles from the White House, so he would not have to go very far. If he wanted to.

Instead, he and Jill are going to be at the White House:

“Tonight, the president and First Lady will watch election results in the White House residence with longtime aides and senior White House staff,” a White House official told the Washington Examiner. “The president will receive regular updates on the state of races across the country.”

So much for how much they support her, when they wouldn’t even go to her watch party just a short distance away.

Biden hasn’t done much campaigning for Harris and again, on the last day on Tuesday, he has nothing on his schedule. Part of that might have been her desire (or that of the campaign) to keep him at a distance with his propensity for misspeaking.

It may also be that he knows she’s going to lose and he just doesn’t want to be associated with it, particularly after he had to give up his chance to make way for her.

Some on X joked he probably will be at Trump’s watch party in Florida, and posted pictures of when he wore the Trump hat on Sept. 11 in Shanksville, PA.
