A press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan identified 25-year-old Isaac Sissel as having made an online threat. Sissel believed his threat vague enough so that authorities could not catch on to the plot.
“I shall carry out an attack against conservative christan, (sic) filth in the event Trump wins the election,” he said, according to court records reviewed by MLive. “I have a stolen ar15 and a target I refuse to name so I can continue to get away with my plans.”
Sissel’s statement continued: “Without a specific victim or ability to find the place I hid the gun, there’s not a thing the FBI can do until I complete the attack.”
Sissel was arrested by the FBI early Tuesday morning. The threat was made on November 2nd.
His efforts to avoid the Bureau because of the lack of a specific victim were thwarted when he used Reddit user names such as “ShootUpTrumpRally,” “PlanningToShootTrump,” and “WillShootTrumpSoon.”
The intentions seem quite clear.

Officials said they located and confronted Sissel at a hotel where he admitted, according to MLive, that he “believed Trump was a threat and that progressive and politically left groups were not violent enough.”
Trump has been the target of two assassination attempts leading up to the election. The first occurred during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July 2024, where he was shot and wounded in the ear. Corey Comperatore, a retired volunteer fire chief, was killed in the assassination attempt as he protected his wife and daughter, and another man was injured.
The second attempt happened in September 2024 at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, where a man, Ryan Wesley Routh, was apprehended after being spotted with a rifle near the golf course.
But in this man’s mind, the left is “not violent enough.”
Court documents suggest that Sissel denied he would personally shoot Trump but if somebody else did, he’d gladly let them go about their business.
“Sissel said that he wouldn’t kill Trump, but if he knew someone was going to assassinate Trump that it was his (Sissel’s) duty to not intervene,” the complaint reads. “Sissel said that he hated conservative Christians, who he enjoyed threatening.”

Still, the affidavit adds that Sissel referred to former President Trump as a “piece of s— that should have been assassinated and that everything would be better if Trump was dead.”
The suspect told authorities he does not own a firearm but does have a knife.
Sissel appears to frequent rehab centers in the Ann Arbor area, and has lived in both Washington and New York state. He has been scheduled for a detention hearing on Thursday.
The suspect was charged with sending a threatening communication.
