The closing argument from one MSNBC talking head on the 2024 election had many hoping for the former president’s victory if only to see the host go from unhinged to total meltdown.

After years of demagoguery, demonization, and outright lies related to former President Donald Trump from pundits across the political and media landscape, the results of Election Day stand to prove how far such cultural poison has seeped into the water table.

Given one last opportunity to speak before the final ballots were cast, Joy Reid endeavored to cram as much Trump Derangement Syndrome as she could into a single monologue as she rode the madness right off the rails.

“And we begin our final sprint having arrived at that point in the election season where, basically, we on this side of the TV screen have said all we can,” Monday’s installment of “The ReidOut” began in part before the host rattled off as many accusations and ominous comparisons as she could in a jam-packed run-on sentence.

“We’ve laid out the stakes in this crucial election where one side stands for freedom, while the other meets the textbook definition of fascism. Namely, a far-right dictatorial regime like Hitler’s Germany, or Franco’s Spain, or Mussolini’s Italy, but also white-ruled South Africa before Mandela and the black majority took control — or Vladimir Putin’s Russia, Viktor Orbán’s Hungary or Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela today — that suppresses the rights of women and minorities, uses the military to execute the whims of a strongman dictator and controls and suppresses the press, education, the arts, rewrites history to suit a favored and dominant racial class, and foments extravagant corruption in order to enrich the dictator and his friends.”

Of course, she didn’t stop there as she proceeded to fire off debunked claims about a nationwide abortion ban, “persecuting [of] LGBTQ Americans,” threats of executing political opponents, and broad accusations of racism.

The screed sought succor in the cringe appearance of Vice President Kamala Harris on “Saturday Night Live” which resulted in a Federal Communications Commission issue for NBC with Reid reacting, “Keep calm-ala, carry on-ala and end the dram-ala. That sounds like a mantra we could all use as we prepare to make a crucial choice: who we want to be in the world and who we want to lead us.”

“A first woman president leading with hope, or a fascist leading with fear,” she added before encouraging viewers to, “Get good sleep, tune out the politics from time to time to restore your sanity, but make sure that on the morning of November 6h, you can say that you are proud of what you did in this moment.”

The extent to which she unloaded her TDS had viewers longing for meme-worthy meltdowns or sorrowful scenes akin to the masses that had filled the Javits Center in New York City in 2016 as they learned that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had not only lost but didn’t have the nerve to face her supporters with a concession speech.
