The New York Times, which is printed in some bizarre universe with superficial resemblances to our own, explained this year’s election to its readers in an email this morning. This is what the Times has to say about Donald Trump:
If Donald Trump wins, he has promised a far-reaching agenda that includes a rollback of climate regulations, an expansion of oil and gas drilling, the mass deportation of people who entered the country illegally, a reduction in military support for Ukraine, tariffs on all imported goods and a large tax cut.
Yup. That is why we are voting for him. But policy isn’t really the Times’ concern:
Yet his biggest break with American political history is not about any proposed policy. It is his rejection of democratic traditions that both parties have long supported. Trump refuses to accept election results unless he wins…
Trump didn’t refuse to accept the election result in 2020. He thought the Democrats had carried multiple states through fraud, and therefore initiated legal challenges. Just like Democrats often do when they lose. When those challenges failed, he said goodbye to the White House. So what’s the point? It is somehow out of bounds to complain about voter fraud?
…speaks positively about violence…
No he doesn’t. It is the Democrats who approve of violence. Remember the George Floyd riots? Democrats gave rioters special permission to congregate in public because their cause was so noble. The Democrats’ candidate for vice president, Tim Walz, refused for days to call out the National Guard while the city of Minneapolis burned, because–as he himself explained–he sympathized with the rioters. And Kamala Harris doesn’t just speak positively about violence, she helps to bail out violent criminals, so they can commit more violence–including, in at least one case, murder.
…and threatens to use government power to punish his political opponents.
Does this set some kind of world record for lack of self-awareness? Does the Times not understand that the Democrats have been using political power to punish their opponents for years? Most notably Donald Trump, of course, whom they have tried to imprison on absurdly flimsy grounds. But how about Elon Musk, explicitly punished by the State of California for his political views? Do these liberals ever think about the things they write?
He also vows to avoid the pattern of his first term by appointing loyal aides who will carry out his wishes.
We certainly hope so! That is what a president is supposed to do, and what Kamala Harris surely would do, with the help of whoever it is that has been running the Biden administration and now would run hers.
There is no way to reason with people who are this out of touch with reality. You can only beat them.
