It’s almost like Democrat movers and shakers are resigned to the probability that Tuesday’s presidential election results will turn out very well for former President Donald Trump and not so much for Vice President Kamala Harris.

Former Obama official David Axelrod might be a veteran Democrat hack, but every once in a while, the chief strategist of Barack Obama’s two successful presidential campaigns can also be publicly honest. Such was the case when “Axe” told CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday that there’s “zero enthusiasm on the ground for Kamala Harris in demographics that [she] most needs.”

“They have all said the same thing,” told the glum panel.

After co-host Dana Bash asked Axelrod what he’s most worried about, he said:

Well, look. The watchword of the day is is humility, here. When you have polls that are this close … you’re not sure of anything. It really matters who shows up because these polls are not precise. So what I’m worried about is how we’re telling some women who are independent that Republican women, who are independent Republican women to come out and vote for Kamala Harris.

Is that going to materialize? Is the gender gap going to be what you need it to be? Are minority voters going to come out in numbers — particularly African American voters — and are you going to get the margins that you want, there?

So there are a lot of open questions, and they’re obviously working it hard, right now. They’re seeing it on the street, but this race is filled with uncertainties for them.

Axelrod summed it up thusly:

I can tell you that I’ve talked to people who have been on the ground in places like Philadelphia, Detroit, New Orleans, and they have all said the same thing. There’s zero enthusiasm on the ground for Kamala Harris in the demographics that they need.

Not exactly a promising forecast.

Meanwhile, the enthusiasm meter among Republicans is about to explode.

Trump made a final campaign appearance in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Monday night. In a jab at Harris and her surrogates, including billionaire Mark Cuban, who has ridiculously claimed that “strong women” intimidate the former president and will vote for Harris in record numbers, Trump’s rally featured Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee-Sanders, former Democrat Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (Hawaii), and a surprise appearance by former Fox News host Megyn Kelly, who’s now a mega-podcaster.

The crowd exploded when Kelly took the stage.

Can you believe this guy — can you believe the energy and stamina of this guy?

While Trump sprinted to the finish, Harris finished her campaign with a fake “door-knocking” event in Pittsburgh.

Again, no prognostication, but I feel it in my bones: it’s going to be a good night for Donald Trump.
