Support for the vice president earned some voters a “scare tactic” mailer with a home-hitting message about open borders and unwelcome squatters.

Buses to blue cities and planes flown to Martha’s Vineyard may have forced politicians promoting “sanctuary” to confront the illegal alien crisis, but some NIMBYs (not in my backyard) proved to have invincible ignorance. In an attempt to crack those nuts, NBC 10 reported that residents with Harris-Walz signs in their front yards were receiving mailers informing them that their support meant they would now be housing foreign nationals.

“I put a lawn sign in my front yard. I don’t think I should be subjected to these fraudulent mailers,” said one anonymous Shrewsbury, Massachusetts resident to NBC 10. “It really creeped me out.”

Sharing the report on X, the End Wokeness account boiled down a takeaway, “HAHAHAHAHAHA…Rich whites with Harris signs are terrified after receiving letters thanking them for accepting ‘to house a migrant family.’”

One example of a postcard sent to the houses displaying their favor for the Democratic Party nominee read, “Thank you for supporting Kamala! We are so appreciative of you putting out a yard sign. But now we need your continued help. We will be moving a family of 2 from the country of Nicaragua into your home on 10/30/2024. They will need food, toiletries, and transportation. Thank you!”

“That’s when I realized it was an obvious attempt to try to either scare me or rage bait me and make me upset,” the resident told the news outlet.

“It’s absolutely a scare tactic,” contended Suffolk University Political Science Professor Rachael Cobb to NBC 10. “It is a tactic that is used by groups to make people uncomfortable, to heighten and raise the tension level and do things to lower people’s confidence in the kind of information that they are receiving.”

Within the reactions to the report, another user shared a video depicting the hypocrisy of boasting about open borders and virtue signaling about the Statue of Liberty while bristling at the idea that their promotion of a globalist agenda should leave them with any responsibility for foreign nationals living off their fellow taxpayers’ dimes.

“This is hysterical and accurate,” reacted one as another noted, “Virtue signaling is a mental illness.”

Still, even as one comment begged the question, “Why are Democrats so afraid to live with the consequences of their actions?” another Shrewsbury resident who’d received a postcard appeared to miss the message and instead doubled down on her political stance telling NBC 10, “It makes me angry. But if the takeaway of this was supposed to be don’t put up a lawn sign and support a political candidate publicly, I feel the exact opposite. Next time there’s an election, I’m gonna put three signs in my yard.”
