Kamala Harris is a person utterly without principles. I’ve been saying this since she first was anointed (without receiving one primary vote) to replace befuddled old Joe Biden as the Democrat presidential nominee, and it still holds. What she says can differ from hour to hour, from one audience to another, because she is not only utterly without any principles, she doesn’t appear to understand what principles are, much less what they mean.

In an Axios piece on Sunday, Harris was referred to as having a “no comment” strategy. That’s not it. That’s not it at all.
One thing is clear about Vice President Harris‘ intent to stick to her old liberal views or govern with new centrist thinking: She doesn’t want voters to know.
Why it matters: Harris is the “no comment” candidate — purposely and strategically. She has calculated that it’s safer to be vague on policy matters than lampooned as a flip-flopper or left-winger.
Zoom in: Harris and her staff have refused to detail her position on more than a dozen of her previous stances the past three months in response to questions by Axios. The response to those inquiries: No comment.
- This makes her actual governing plans a mystery even to many Democrats — given her past liberal record and current promise to govern from the middle.
If she wins, this will be seen as shrewd, thread-the-needle politics.
Here’s what they get wrong:
Kamala Harris doesn’t have any actual governing plans. She never has. Since her odds of emerging from this thing with the keys to the Oval Office seem to be dwindling by the day, that may not end up mattering — but on the off chance she wins? She will be the least prepared president to ever take a seat behind the Resolute Desk and, since her predecessor is the befuddled ole Joe Biden, that’s really saying something.

Her past “liberal” far-left record suited her purpose at that time, which was to get elected in California. When she trotted out her far-left positions in 2019, when the Democrat primaries were getting underway, she got destroyed – in large part at the first debate, where now-Republican Tulsi Gabbard metaphorically carved out Kamala’s gizzard over her record as attorney general of California. As for her current promise to “govern from the middle?” Well, Bernie Sanders, the daffy old Bolshevik from Vermont, already sold her down the river on that claim – not that anyone believed her in the first place.

Kamala Harris has no governing plans, and she cannot articulate any coherent philosophy of governance – because she doesn’t have one. She is a creature of pure expedience and largely a sock puppet for whoever is feeding her talking points. She has no core principles; just look at the lunatic kaleidoscope of accents she parades around at different events. A fake southern accent in one place, an upper Midwestern twang in another, a few New England dropped r’s or a little of what she perceives as urban slang – it’s the worst sort of pandering.

Here’s the thing about principles: They always apply, no matter who you are speaking to, no matter what situation you find yourself in. Kamala Harris has no principles. That’s why the “no comment” rule applies; she cannot articulate any position on demand because she doesn’t know for sure what it is.
