Liz Collin is the Emmy Award-winning reporter who now works for Alpha News. Liz had Minnesota Governor Tim Walz nailed as a compulsive liar years before he was exposed as such in the glare of the national spotlight — not that anyone vetting Walz for Kamala Harris picked up on her work.
They were certainly aware of Barack Obama’s approval and perhaps even of the cheerleading of the Star Tribune in the Twin Cities as the Democrats went crazy in the last legislative session. Among the panoply of bills Walz enthusiastically signed was the one that gave him the moniker Tampon Tim. I should like to think he will never live that one down. He earned it fair and square.
Walz established himself in politics as the six-term congressman representing Minnesota’s rural and conservative First Congressional District. He made his home in Mankato, 80 miles southwest of the Twin Cities. Once Walz was ensconced in St. Paul as governor, however, he quickly “evolved.” He “outgrew” his home base. He won “a strange new respect” from the left-wing trendsetters and opinionmakers in the Twin Cities. He “grew” toward the “man” you see today, although we had never seen anything quite like the robotic clown that he has become on the national stage. He continues to “evolve.”
Liz went down to Mankato to assess public opinion in Walz’s former home base. Liz reports on the results of her visit in “‘Don’t care for the man’: Alpha News finds frosty reception for Tim Walz in hometown.” The video below accompanies Liz’s story. Note that the wife of one Trump supporter supports Harris while the husband supports Trump. Tim Walz, this is your hometown.
Walz was elected governor in 2018 by an 11-point margin. He was reelected in 2022 by a 7.5-point margin. In the most recent statewide poll of the presidential race — the one released earlier this week by MinnPost — the Harris-Walz ticket is leading Trump-Vance by only 2.6 points. Make of that what you will. Suffice it to say that the Walz-Harris ticket is unlikely to carry Minnesota’s First Congressional District.
