As the 2024 election cycle races toward the finish line, American voters were just gifted a look inside the stark difference between the left and right.

President Joe Biden once again stuck his foot in his mouth after he flippantly referred to supporters of former President Donald Trump as “garbage,” creating a Hillary Clinton “deplorable” moment of his very own.

Trump was informed of this live on stage, then promptly asked his supporters to “please forgive [Biden] for he not knoweth what he said”:

“These people are terrible, terrible, terrible to say a thing like that. But he really doesn’t know. He really… honestly, he doesn’t. And I’m convinced that he likes me more than he likes Kamala. But that’s a terrible thing,” the former president continued.

But while Trump called for unity and forgiveness, CNN analyst Mark Preston argued the opposite.

“I’m of the mindset that if you say it, you might as well just embrace it, and I do think that that’s a problem for Democrats,” he admitted.

“I do think if he said, listen, yeah, I do mean all those racist supporters of Donald Trump, yeah, I do think that they’re terrible. I think that people would look at the Democratic Party a little bit different. I do think that the Democratic Party, in general, doesn’t look like they are strong enough, and they will always back off of things. And I think that when Joe Biden backs off of saying what he really believes, I don’t think that’s a good look,” he added.

Overall, social media users were happy with how Trump played the controversy, as seen here:
