Joe Biden might just have formally ended Kamala Harris’ campaign on Tuesday night.
The Democrats were trying to go all in attacking the Trump rally at Madison Square Garden, demonizing it as a “Nazi rally” and criticizing what a comedian said there about Puerto Rico. But then Biden blew all that away in his criticism by calling Trump supporters “garbage,” as we reported earlier.

Politico then tried to spin what he actually said but was caught because video was released showing what he actually said.
A comedian telling a joke about Puerto Rico’s landfill problem was so offensive that Joe Biden decided to call half of America garbage instead.
You did it Joe, you united the county!

I think his team immediately knew that was a bad mistake — particularly when Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) threw Biden under the bus.
BRUTAL: Democrat Gov. Josh Shapiro says he’d “never insult” Americans as “garbage,” like Biden just said about Trump supporters.
Kamala has not yet condemned this disgusting rhetoric — just hours after she said she was “proud” to serve with Biden. pic.twitter.com/PIusDWgbXc

NEW from Gov. Josh Shapiro, reacting to Biden comments on CNN:
“I’m giving you my fresh reaction to it. I would never insult the good people of Pennsylvania or any Americans even if they chose to support a candidate that I didn’t support.”

Oh, my. The response from the guy who wasn’t picked. How delicious.
The White House knew this was a firestorm. They immediately released a transcript. Excuse me, they released multiple, different transcripts about what he said.
White House can’t even decide on their spin. In the so-called transcript given to Gabe of NBC News (reporter who broke story), White House claimed Biden said “supporters’” (plural possessive), but in transcript given to Weijia & others, it is “supporter’s” (singular possessive). pic.twitter.com/jiHYI5ZWhU

So they can’t even keep their own lies straight, first claiming plural possessive, then singular possessive. And neither of those is what he said, as the video was clear he was saying “supporters.” Plural, period. Two different sentences, two different thoughts.
Biden (or an intern) posted from his account clarifying (translate: lying) about what he said.
Earlier today I referred to the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico spewed by Trump’s supporter at his Madison Square Garden rally as garbage—which is the only word I can think of to describe it. His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable. That’s all I meant to say. The…

Earlier today I referred to the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico spewed by Trump’s supporter at his Madison Square Garden rally as garbage—which is the only word I can think of to describe it. His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable. That’s all I meant to say. The comments at that rally don’t reflect who we are as a nation.
Yeah, no. Too late. You didn’t refer to what he said as garbage; you called Trump’s supporters garbage. And even the second thought was bad as well, equating “Latinos” with illegal aliens, which was who Trump was talking about. You just called half the nation, millions of Americans “garbage.” “That’s all I meant to say” doesn’t clean it up. This isn’t even the first time he’s demonized Trump supporters, previously calling them “extremists” in his ugly Philly speech.
No one is buying this excuse, not even former CNN guy Chris Cillizza. He called the gaffe “if that’s what it was” an “absolute nightmare” for Kamala Harris’ campaign because it was getting more attention than her closing argument.
Biden’s verbal gaffe (if that’s what it was) is an absolute nightmare for Harris campaign.
This is getting more attention than Harris’ closing argument speech. https://t.co/WKYnn5HHMB

Perhaps that was Biden’s point, as he seems to have a habit of usurping her events. Accidentally, of course.

Also the attempt to transcribe this by the White House as “supporter’s” as opposed to “supporters” — which he clearly says — is laughable. https://t.co/JEDvpHLDcF

It even sounded like it was a bridge too far for CNN’s Kaitlan Collins.
Even CNN isn’t buying the pathetic spin from Harris-Biden allies after Biden called Trump supporters “garbage”: “It’s hard to really look at that when you can listen to it for yourself.” pic.twitter.com/vJoypAc1KE

If you’ve lost Cillizza and Collins, you just may have a problem.
