Cracks in the Democrats’ blue wall are only part of the story as last-minute campaign reallocation of advertising dollars spell out a shift to defense.

“My God, I’ve never seen such panic.”

Well before early voting began or nominees were even official for the major parties, it remained clear that seven battleground states were pivotal to securing the White House. Now, with a week remaining in the race, reports show Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign is pulling money from “TWO key swing states,” to shore up a third as well as a less-considered commonwealth.

Daily Signal columnist Tony Kinnett reacted to the Election Wizard account posting about the $2 million pulled from North Carolina, “One week out from election, and the Harris-Walz campaign has pulled money & advertisements from TWO key swing states (WI, NC).”

“My God, I’ve never seen such panic.”

The Carolina Journal reported that Raleigh, where Harris was expected to campaign on Wednesday, was the only media market where she was leading former President Donald Trump as polling put him ahead 12 points in the Hurricane Helene-ravaged West, as well as 9 points ahead on the coast. The vice president was leading polling 55% to 40% in the Triangle area of Chapel Hill, Durham, and Raleigh.

Florida’s Voice Assistant News Director Eric Daugherty reported that campaign spending in Wisconsin had been diverted to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where Harris’ get-out-the-vote effort dispatched celebrities including Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro over the weekend, as turnout concerns mounted.

While that shift showed the effort to maintain balance in prioritizing the blue wall of Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, the pulled funds from North Carolina heightened the appearance of panic as those dollars were said to have been reallocated to Virginia.

Elon Musk addressed the funding change as shared early voting numbers in the commonwealth showed Republicans were surpassing registered Democrats, “The Republican lead in North Carolina almost doubled from yesterday! Rumor has it that the Kamala campaign is shifting resources to shore up Virginia, which means they’re worried about losing Virginia.”

“Let’s make even the blue states red!” he added.

Adding to the real chance implied by the data for the former president to make inroads beyond the secure red states and swing states with only days remaining in the race, Trump’s event schedule included a rally in Salem, Virginia on Saturday after a week of traveling throughout battleground states with multiple stops in Wisconsin.

These moves came as Democrats were also left admitting to struggling with messaging to voters, particularly as Harris spent more time on demagoguery and platitudes than she had on explaining policies on issues that matter, like the economy.

As social media users reacted to the changing tactics, the slams included a barb referencing the Biden administration’s response to Hurricane Helene that read, “Abandoning North Carolinians is so Democrat.”
