The New York Post on Friday endorsed GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump for president.

“The choice will have reverberations for decades, deciding which of two very different paths for the future Americans will take,” the Post said in its endorsement.

The outlet said that the U.S. needs a secure border, law and order and to be respected on the world stage.

“Today, Trump exhibits the same strength and vigor as he did in 2016, despite the unprecedented and disgraceful weaponization of the justice system against him, two assassination attempts and the all-too-familiar constant barrage of hysterical media attacks on him,” the Post Editorial Board wrote.

Earlier this week, The Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times both declined to endorse a presidential candidate this year.

The Washington Post’s editorial board, which is separate from the news side of the publication, has largely endorsed Democratic candidates since 1976.
