Actress Susan Olsen, who played Cindy on the hit show “The Brady Bunch,” said that a reboot will not be happening due to her being a conservative.
Olsen said during a podcast that a reboot had been pitched in which all the Brady kids had grown up and had different political views.
She said it would have been similar to the “Roseanne” reboot in which the family would not agree on politics but still loved each other.
“I am what I was going to portray, so what kind of show would this be if I can’t say anything that’s controversial?” Olsen said on the podcast, according to The Daily Wire. “I did have a phone call with my [TV] siblings calling me and my agent. Everybody was saying, ‘We’re sorry, but they just won’t budge. They just will not have you in this.’ I’m like wow, I’ve been canceled. A role that I’ve played for over 50 years, I can’t play it now because I’m too dangerous.’ So I was like ‘Well, okay guys, good luck, I hope you can sell it.’”
She said that some of the siblings would be “Reagan Republicans,” one would be liberal and another would be libertarian, with views very similar to Olsen’s personal views.
Olsen said that CBS had a 50-page dossier of comments that she had made that they viewed as controversial. She said she stands by every one of the views she had expressed. The actress has previously expressed hesitancy regarding the COVID-19 vaccine and said “gender-affirming” surgeries for minors are causing “irreparable damage.”
Olsen described a Zoom meeting she had with the showrunner, producer, and her agent, in an effort to resolve the issue and proceed with the project. She said the meeting resembled an “inquisition,” as she was asked to comment on her current views on the hot-button issues.
She finally decided to pass on the project. “No, I’m done. At this point, you’re going to have a woke Brady Bunch, and I want no part of it,” she told her agent.
