The former president’s latest internet-breaking sit-down included an admission from Joe Rogan on what convinced him to chat with the GOP leader.

“I think the timing is perfect.”

Friday, former President Donald Trump joined the wildly popular podcaster and UFC commentator for three hours in a wide-ranging discussion gathering views by the millions. After previously expressing no interest in “helping” the president with an interview, Rogan revealed how the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania had been a turning point.

During the discussion, the host of “The Joe Rogan Experience” brought up how both Trump and running mate Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance had appeared with the commentator’s friend, fellow comedian and podcaster Theo Von, prompting the question in jest, “Is that why you called me to do this?”

“No. Once they shot you I was like ‘he’s gotta come in here,’” expressed Rogan as he added, “It’s all about timing, it’s all about the timing. I think the timing is perfect.”

On that subject, Trump was asked about the bullet wound and to see the scar which he readily pointed out, “It zicked right there.”

“It healed up pretty f*cking good,” replied Rogan.

Elsewhere in the conversation, the pair discussed what it would be like for Vice President Kamala Harris to attempt such a candid long-form interview, an opportunity she had thus far declined.

“Can you imagine Kamala doing this show? She’d be laying on the floor,” asserted Trump as the host responded, “She was supposed to be doing it and she might still, and I hope she does. I will like to talk to her like a human being. I will try to have a conversation with her.”

In addition to suggesting they would have a “fine conversation” instead of an interview, Rogan added, “That was my goal having her on, trying to get her to express herself.”

He was also of the opinion that the debates had proven fruitless for the American public and that a civil discussion without the steering of moderators would allow for more insightful, fleshed-out explanations of complex policy positions.

“I think you and Kamala, you sit across a table with no one in the room but the two of you, of course, you’re not going to shout at each other, hopefully, that is the way you do it,” offered Rogan.

Following the interview’s posting, many had raised concerns about its discoverability online, contending YouTube was up to suppression because the video wasn’t appearing in searches. However, the host explained that “There is no issue with YouTube censoring the [T]rump episode. It was just supposed to go live on both Spotify and YouTube at the same time and there was a glitch in Spotify’s upload system and so we delisted the YouTube link until it’s fixed. It should be fine now.”

Of course, Trump couldn’t help but seek to call attention to the influence that the host has with his massive audience as he encouraged Rogan to offer up an endorsement.

After bringing up the endorsement from Elon Musk, he said to laughter, “You should do the same thing, Joe, because you cannot be voting for Kamala…You’re not a Kamala person. I know you.”

“You’re a Khabib person,” Trump added referencing former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, earning even more laughter from Rogan. “But, you’re not a Kamala person.”
