As the United States approaches Election Day, attempts to nudge battleground states to the left are not going unchecked on X.
CBS News posted an article titled: In some battleground states, low-wage workers keep losing ground, in which it’s noted that former President Donald Trump has not commented on his views on minimum wage. However, the piece did note that Vice President Kamala Harris has been lobbying for an increase in the federal minimum wage. Both parties, the article says, have proposed their own versions of a “No Tax On Tips” policy that would help service workers keep more of the money they earn, as most work for below minimum wage.
Half of the eight battleground states in this year’s U.S. presidential election use the federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour, a rate that hasn’t changed since 2009 despite a 47% surge in the cost of living since then. https://t.co/EUnnAL688v

“While the federal minimum wage has been frozen since 2009, 30 states have stepped in to boost wages for their lowest-earning workers, according to the left-leaning Economic Policy Institute. That’s left 20 states still paying the federal baseline wage, representing annual earnings of $15,000. Those states are mostly in the South and Midwest, including the four battleground states that use the $7.25 an hour minimum: Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin,” CBS reported.
While this could be seen as a not-so-thinly-veiled attempt to push battleground states toward Harris so she can raise the federal minimum wage amid today’s rocky economic climate, X users pointed out that she has been the vice president for several years. Not only does this mean she’s partially responsible for the economic woes facing Americans today, but she’s also had plenty of opportunity to attempt raising the minimum wage but has failed to do so.
Kamala Harris is currently in office and has been for four years.

Maybe importing VAST numbers of low-skilled laborers – depressing wages – wasn’t a good idea. pic.twitter.com/BqSMzYQAY6

This is an entry level job. You don’t typically make careers out of a minimum wage job. But you wouldn’t know that, would you? A real journalist would.

The federal government should not determine the wages of entry-level workers.

47% inflation. Noted.

Maybe Biden could have done something about that

But most companies don’t follow the minimum wage and have significantly raised what they are offering to stay competitive

@CBSNews fails to mention that 45% of that 47% increase happened due to the Biden/ Harris administration causing inflation to skyrocket.
Is there ANY journalist left at @CBSNews ??????????

So what you’re saying is cost of living has gone up 47% during a 16 year stretch in which the Democrats have run the country for 12 of those years.
