An investigation by House Republicans has found that nearly one million illegal aliens are now safe from deportation thanks to the Biden-Harris administration.

“Through administrative maneuvering at both the Justice Department and DHS, the Biden-Harris Administration has already ensured that nearly 1 million illegal aliens can remain in the United States without the possibility of deportation—and that trend shows no sign of stopping,” a report from the GOP-led House Judiciary Committee reads.

The “administrative maneuvering” has involved dismissing, terminating, or administratively closing asylum claims, which the Judiciary Committee alleges allows “those aliens to stay in the country indefinitely without facing immigration consequences.”

“Instead of actually adjudicating illegal aliens’ cases based on the merits of aliens’ claims for relief—such as whether an alien has a valid and successful asylum claim—immigration judges under the Biden-Harris Administration have been tasked with rubberstamping case dismissals, case closures, and case terminations, all of which allow illegal aliens to remain in the United States without immigration consequences,” the committee’s report explains.

Why is this happening? Reportedly in part because in 2022, a Biden-Harris DHS official issued a memo to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) attorneys directing them to close/dismiss as many cases as possible allegedly because of a backlog of cases.

“The Doyle Memo outlined how ICE attorneys ‘are expected to exercise discretion’—that is, move to dismiss immigration cases — ‘at all stages of the enforcement process,’” the report reads.

House Republicans believe the true purpose of the memo was to “ensure that certain aliens’ cases never move forward in immigration court so the Biden-Harris Administration may achieve its open-borders agenda.”

This is also reportedly happening because of the actions of Attorney General Merrick Garland, who in 2021 overturned a Trump-era decision that’d restricted the use of administrative closure.

The ostensible purpose of the dismissal was for case adjudicators to focus on what he termed “higher-priority” cases.

All this, House Republicans say, is yet just another example of the Biden-Harris administration weaponizing the government to achieve its corrosive goals.

“In weaponizing both immigration judges within the Justice Department and ICE attorneys within DHS, the Biden-Harris Administration has guaranteed that upward of 1 million aliens—the overwhelming majority of whom likely would otherwise not have a legal basis to remain in the United States—can stay in the country indefinitely,” the report reads.

“This quiet amnesty not only undermines U.S. immigration law but also incentivizes additional illegal aliens to arrive at America’s borders, knowing they will be released into the country and never deported,” it continues.

The report concludes with House Republicans slamming the Biden-Harris administration and Senate Democrats for ignoring H.R. 2, a House bill that would have secured the border.

Instead, Democrats put all their support into trying to pass an allegedly “bipartisan” border bill that lacked all the tough border enforcement mechanisms contained in H.R. 2.

Unlike the “bipartisan” bill, H.R. 2 would have actually resolved the border crisis by purging the workforce of criminal aliens, tightening asylum eligibility requirements, building additional border fortifications, and much, much more.

“It is beyond time for President Biden and Vice President Harris to end the border crisis and stop their backdoor amnesty,” the report reads. “To secure the border and protect Americans, the Senate must pass, and President Biden must sign into law, H.R. 2.”

“In the meantime, the Committee and Subcommittee will continue to conduct oversight of the Biden-Harris Administration’s decimation of the nation’s immigration courts and destruction of the rule of law,” it concludes.
