Charlamagne tha God, aka Lenard Larry McKelvey, clashed with RNC Co-Chair Lara Trump over whether former President Donald Trump, was racist.

Co-host DJ Envy drudged up claims from the 1970s that Trump would not rent apartments he owned to black people, referencing the Central Park Five, a group of minority teens wrongly convicted of raping a jogger in Central Park decades ago, as well as Trump’s questioning of Barack Obama’s birthplace to ask Lara to respond to claims that her father-in-law is racist.

“That’s ridiculous. I’ve known this man for sixteen years. There was never any proof of anything with the houses; they settled that. There was no admission of anything there,” she replied,

“You have to look at somebody and what they have done and Donald Trump was really beneficial to the black community when he was in the White House. I will say I’ve never seen this man say a racist thing,” Lara added.

It was at this point that Charlamagne began laughing, prompting Lara to ask, “Why is that funny, Charlamagne?”

“It’s hysterical,” he responded. “People act like there’s no such thing as Google or they don’t have TV or radio.”

Charlamagne then regurgitated the narrative pushed by the Trump-hating media by running a carefully edited clip of Trump suggesting that rapists and drug mules are among the illegal immigrants pouring into our country and his remark accurately calling Haiti a sh*thole country to counter the claim that Trump was not racist.

“This is what I will say, this is a man who was beloved by so many people in this country, and he was friends with everybody,” Lara pushed back. “Jesse Jackson, by the way… [Trump] let them stay rent-free in one of his buildings – the Rainbow Coalition – because he felt like at the time that was a very important thing.”

She also pointed out that it’s “a traditional talking point to attack Republicans, to call them racists.”

“But when you look at the things he wants for this country, he wants everyone to be successful,” Lara said, before addressing a dig from Charlamagne about how Trump’s stance on illegal immigration impacts immigrants who are here legally.

“If you’re an American citizen, Donald Trump doesn’t care [about] your religion. He doesn’t care what you look like,” she said.

Charlamagne was in the news recently for being critical of Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate, questioning Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s “impact” on the race.

Suggesting Walz is the best “white man that excites other white people,” Charlamagne asked, ‘What did Jay-Z say? ‘He had a spark when he started, but now he’s just garbage?’”

“I don’t think he’s garbage, you know what I’m saying? But it’s just like, I don’t see the impact,” he added.
