Asheville residents lost everything, but they haven’t lost sight of the plot:

Father, I thank you for this man that You have raised up in this moment, in this season, for Your purposes. And I pray that You would anoint him, that things aren’t done just by might or by power, but by Your Spirit. So I ask that you would anoint President Donald Trump and give him a spirit of wisdom and understanding and insight as he moves to lead this nation back to greatness.

In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

Outstanding.

I know the Left looks at this as the “cult” of Trump, but it’s anything but. Mike Stewart is obeying God by praying for his leaders and seeking the good and prosperity of his country. Mike Stewart recognized, as all Christians should, that God is sovereign over the world and directs the affairs and fate of nations.

And Stewart is praying for this while his business, Pine View Buildings, was destroyed and his local area looks like a war zone:

Let me give you a one-minute theology masterclass: The biblical books of 1 & 2 Kings and 1 & 2 Chronicles detail how God did this time and again in the politics of the ancient Near East. If a leader/nation followed Him, God would bless that leader/nation. If the opposite happened, God would hand that leader/nation over to their enemies.

The idea of “anointing” comes from the ancient custom of providing guests with perfumed oil that they could use to “freshen up” after a journey. Kings were likewise dabbed with oil to signify that they had been chosen to lead.

Guys like Stewart understand that for whatever reason, and however imperfect the person (God chose people even more imperfect than Trump to lead in the Bible), God works through particular people at particular moments in history.

And the credit has nothing to do with Trump, but God:

…things aren’t done just by might or by power, but by Your Spirit.

Because Stewart understands how God judges leaders and nations, he also asked God to give Trump wisdom and understanding (something Trump desperately needs at times). If Trump turns his back on God, then the consequences would be dire.

And all of this was said in the name of Jesus Christ.

It’s amazing how faithful small-town leaders often (read: most of the time) know more about God and prayer than the megachurch pastors.

I’ll leave you with a few of Trump’s comments on how he wants to help Asheville and other town devastated by Hurricane Helene:
