The NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers aren’t taking any chances when former President Donald J. Trump attends Sunday’s home game against the visiting New York Jets and star quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

The Republican nominee is continuing his strong presence in the key battleground state just two weeks before the pivotal election and will be at Acrisure Stadium for Sunday night’s nationally televised game which will mark the Steelers debut of quarterback Russell Wilson

“With former President Trump expected to attend Sunday night’s game as a guest of an individual suite holder, we are working with Secret Service and local authorities to ensure the safety and security of all our fans,” the team said in a statement on Saturday, advising fans of enhanced security and potential delays.

“As always, we will work to make the fan experience the same as it always is for every Steelers home game at Acrisure Stadium,” the statement read. “We encourage fans to arrive early to the parking lots and to the gates so that they can enjoy our pregame experience and our celebrations throughout the game that will honor the 50th anniversary of our Super Bowl IX team.”

The heightened security comes after Trump was targeted in two assassination attempts, the first one in nearby Butler, PA in July where he was grazed in the ear by a sniper’s bullet that came within an inch or so of blowing his head off on live television.

Trump is arguably now facing an even greater threat at being targeted as Kamala Harris sinks in the polls and Democrats and their minions continue to ratchet up their murderous rhetoric, egging on the unstable in the apparent hope that at least one of them will take another shot at the former president.

It’s yet another primetime game for Rodgers and the disappointing Jets. A team with Super Bowl aspirations that now sits at 2-4, has already fired its head coach and just made a high-stakes trade for wide receiver Davante Adams, the quarterback’s former teammate with the Green Bay Packers in an effort to jumpstart the moribund offense.

The Steelers are in a much better position with a 4-2 record and are tied for first place tie in the AFC North with the Baltimore Ravens. Wilson will be making his first start for the team after being signed as a free agent following a disastrous two years with the Denver Broncos. The 35-year-old signal caller was previously a league MVP and won a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks.

The Steelers will also be paying tribute to the 1974 team led by Terry Bradshaw, Franco Harris, Jack Lambert, and Mean Joe Greene that brought home the Vince Lombardi Trophy to the Iron City for the first time, one of four won by the legendary “Steel Curtain” edition of the team.
