As former President Donald Trump gains popularity heading into the 2024 presidential election, the First Lady is making an effort to show a united front from the White House.

Axios recently released a piece that cites sources close to the situation as saying the relationship between President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris is “increasingly fraught.” This comes after Biden stepped out of the race when it became clear that he was going to lose to Trump, and Harris was installed in his place. It has been theorized by political pundits that the Biden family, including First Lady Jill Biden, hold some resentment toward, among other people, Harris.

“They’re too much in their feelings,” said a close Harris ally according to the Axios report.

“Some on the Harris team say that top White House aides aren’t sufficiently coordinating Biden’s messaging and schedule to align with what’s best for the vice president’s campaign,” the article says.

“The White House is lacking someone in the room thinking first and foremost about how things would affect the campaign,” said an anonymous source close to the Harris campaign.

In what is perhaps an effort to show unity just ahead of November, Jill Biden will be hitting the campaign trail for Harris in battleground states. While she had previously only campaigned for her husband during his brief run for a second term, Mrs. Biden appeared at events in Michigan and Wisconsin on Monday, and on Tuesday she was speaking in Pennsylvania.

“As Kamala and I have gotten to know each other these past four years, you know, we bonded over many things, but one of the things that we talked about is how we lost our mothers, both to cancer, both long before we were done needing them,” the first lady said.

She also had some digs to get in at Trump during a speech in Detroit.

“Now some have come to the Detroit area recently and thrown around some insults, but from what I’ve seen this is a vibrant, thriving city,” she snarked, referring to Trump’s comments to the Detroit Economics Club.

“Our whole country will end up being like Detroit if she’s your president. You’re going to have a mess on your hands. She destroyed San Francisco,” the former president said of Harris.

Another big issue that Mrs. Biden and other Democrats are clinging to is abortion.

“No one has to abandon their faith or deeply held beliefs to agree that the government shouldn’t be telling women what to do. As president, Kamala Harris will proudly sign a national law to restore reproductive freedom to every woman in every state in our country,” she claimed. “As president, Kamala Harris is going to fight for you.”

“We are incredibly grateful to have Dr. Biden campaigning for Vice President Harris in the states and communities that will decide this election. From Reno to the Philly suburbs, she has connected with voters and generated wall-to-wall coverage, all driving the stakes of this election for women’s freedoms and the economy,” said a spokesperson for the Harris campaign, further solidifying the appearance of a bond between the two women.
