Xiaomeisha Sea World in Shenzhen is being criticized by visitors after trying to pass off a fake whale shark in its aquarium.

Was this supposed to fool anyone?

To be honest, building a massive robotic whale shark is kind of Impressive by itself.

Visitors, however, weren’t having it. According to one on Chinese social media:

The most disappointing part was the whale shark exhibit. When I heard the name, I was full of anticipation, but when I arrived, I saw a mechanical whale shark. It’s not interesting at all.

The design appears similar to one recently unveiled in China, which was designed to explore marine habitats.

This isn’t the first Chinese zoo controversy. Earlier this year, a Chinese zoo was criticized for painting dogs to look like pandas.

What’s with all the fake animals, China??
