A lengthy thread from the property managers aimed to “set the record straight” on how Venezuela’s infamous prison gang had taken over multiple locations amid alleged threats and extortion.

On Sunday, Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance readily trounced ABC News’ Martha Raddatz when she tried to downplay the impact that Tren de Aragua had had in Aurora, Colorado for taking over only “a handful of… apartment complexes.”

In a similar fashion to how the Republican vice presidential nominee had obliterated the shameless narrative, Cbz Management, the company responsible for the overrun properties, took to X Friday with some receipts as they ran through how things had been going well — “Then the gangs arrived…”

“Gangs have taken control of our properties in Aurora, Colorado. In an attempt to discredit this fact for political purposes and avoid governmental accountability, some have spread false information about our situation. Let’s set the record straight…” they began, sharing a video montage that captured the essence of the problem.

From there, Cbz explained that they began managing the properties in 2019 when new owners came in and that they “undertook a complete renovation of nearly every unit in the now well-known building you’ve seen in the news.”

“Everything was progressing smoothly: property values were rising, and vacancy rates were dropping. It was a win-win for both the owners and the city of Aurora,” they said over images of the renovations. “Then the gangs arrived…”

Detailing a noticeable rise in crime that included their own local representative being attacked in 2023, it was explained that his alleged discovery of men occupying a three-bedroom apartment that was supposed to be vacant left the representative beaten after refusing a $500 bribe to ignore their presence.

While the problem was initially attributed to squatter laws, the representative proceeded to get threatening text messages, and one tenant was forced to get a new home after the police offered no recourse to his return from vacation when he found “strangers living in his apartment.”

Many were determined to be paying rent to a “different entity” than them, said Cbz as a previous report had found that the leftist NGOs Vive Wellness and Papagayo were securing housing for Venezuelan nationals with contracts said to have been signed with the property managers.

“Two days after our FBI meeting, the gang confronted our on-site manager, asserting control over all three properties,” the thread detailed as government officials confirmed that the messages were coming from members of Tren de Aragua. “They offered an ultimatum: share rental income 50/50 or lose the buildings permanently. They also threatened to harm him and his family.”

“Once we fully understood what we–and our tenants–were facing, we expected a swift response, with the city offering meaningful resources and police protection–perhaps even from the National Guard–to help us regain control of our properties. That never happened. Instead, we were left helpless, watching as violence, bullets, and destruction overtook our buildings. Many of our legitimate tenants fled out of fear,” said Cbz. “Despite the obvious crisis, several city officials refused to acknowledge the reality. Instead, they blamed us, citing ‘code violations’ as the reason for shutting down our property–violations we couldn’t resolve for tenants who weren’t even ours.”

As their account noted they were not unique in suffering the violent gang takeover and businesses in the community were also suffering, Cbz management closed their thread by calling out officials who ignored the problem and said, “Despite clear evidence, many still deny the reality of the situation, sometimes using us as scapegoats. That’s why we are no longer staying silent. We will continue to counter falsehoods with simple facts and evidence. Yes, gangs did take control of our apartment complexes in Aurora, Colorado, and the government did nothing. That is the real story.”
