White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre did her part to legitimize the newest angle in the long-running Trump-Putin hoax, suggesting that a sensational claim by Watergate cadaver Bob Woodward might be true.

In his latest book, the 81-year-old establishment hero used a highly questionable source to claim that former President Donald J. Trump had spoken with the Russian leader “maybe as many as seven” times since leaving office, reigniting the Russiagate frenzy less than a month before the election.

During Wednesday’s daily press briefing, the recently promoted historic first black lesbian immigrant to hold the position only added more fuel to the dubious claim by hedging that the White House doesn’t know if it’s “true” but has “serious concerns” if it is.

Despite the serious issue of a major hurricane set to slam into the populous Florida Gulf Coast and the failures of FEMA with Hurricane Helene, the media smear merchants were all over the Woodward book, with one of them serving up a question to the high-profile DEI hire, giving her a perfect opening to traffic in innuendo.

“On the reporting in that book that he — that former President Trump spoke with Vladimir Putin at least seven times since leaving office, is that appropriate?” the reporter asked, treating the claim as gospel and not gossip because Woodward is the one who made it.

“So, look, we’re not aware of those calls,” Jean-Pierre responded. “I certainly can’t confirm any of those calls from here, but it if — but if it is indeed true, are we concerned? Do we have serious concerns? Yes, if it is true. Again, I cannot confirm any of those calls.”

“Let’s not forget, it is concerning, especially when we know the former president was lobbying against more aid for Ukraine — to Ukraine to defend themselves against Russia’s aggression,” she added, suggesting that Trump is acting as an agent of Putin to sabotage Ukraine, the most important cause of all for the rotten-to-the-core D.C. establishment.

“So, if true, it is concerning. But again, I want to be really clear, I cannot confirm any of these calls,” she added.

“But is it — how is it possible that the intelligence community wouldn’t know that,” the reporter asked, “a former president spoke with Putin?”

“I — I hear you. I just cannot confirm those calls happened,” she said. “I cannot confirm any of these calls were true.”

The biggest problem with Woodward’s allegation is that it relies on an anonymous former Trump “aide” who may not even exist and the claim was fed into the news cycle by the notoriously anti-Trump CNN, an outlet that is as untrustworthy as they come.

In rebooting the Russigate hoax with Woodward as the messenger, the regime and its media are looking to use Putin as the boogeyman to terrify gullible swing voters into supporting Kamala Harris who has the backing of Dick and Liz Cheney and to likely lay the groundwork for Congress to refuse to certify the election if Trump wins as Democrats including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries have hinted they will do.
