Arizona GOP Senate candidate Kari Lake slammed her Democratic opponent Rep. Ruben Gallego for attempting to distance himself from Vice President Kamala Harris during a debate.

“[He] stayed away from Kamala like she was COVID,” Lake said on the Thursday edition of the “Just the News, No Noise” TV show. “He can try to distance himself from her and snuggle up to President Trump, but nothing will change the fact that he called Trump supporters dumb and the worst people in the world.”

Lake and Gallego sparred over border security, the economy and other issues in a debate on Wednesday night.

“He has disdain … for people who want President Trump in office [and] who like those America First policies,” Lake said. “How can you as a senator represent people where you hate half of your state?”

Gallego is currently a Democratic representative for Arizona’s third congressional district.

Lake ran for governor in 2022 and narrowly lost, but challenged election results by pointing to voting machine issues that happened primarily in Maricopa County.

“He’s an unserious candidate who wants to defund our police, make our streets less safe, tank our economy and send it into free fall,” Lake said, referencing Gallego.
