Former President Donald Trump on Thursday slammed the Biden-Harris administration for wasting federal relief money on criminal aliens.

“If you want to see how sick and distorted Kamala Harris’ priorities are, just consider FEMA,” he said during a rally in Michigan. “There’s nobody that’s handled a hurricane or storm worse than what they’re doing right now.”

“Kamala spent all her FEMA money — billions of dollars — on housing for illegal migrants, many of whom should not be in your country, including $1 billion for gift cards for illegal aliens and putting them up in luxury hotels with a gift card to welcome them to America as our veterans are sleeping on the sidewalks below those hotels,” he added.

His comments prompted outrage from the left.

“He flat out lies,” former Rep. Joe Walsh, a rabid anti-Trumper, tweeted. “And Republican elected officials don’t say shit. He’s preying on people’s worst fears. And Republican elected officials don’t say shit.”

Rolling Stone magazine meanwhile published a piece titled, “Trump’s Lies About the Hurricane Response Are Getting More Outrageous.”

Yet what Trump said was essentially accurate. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) allocated $364 million in 2023 and $650 million in 2024 to the Shelter and Services Program (SSP) specifically to provide “humanitarian services” to criminal aliens.

“Through the SSP, DHS directly supports communities that are providing critical support such as food, shelter, clothing, acute medical care, and transportation to noncitizens recently released from DHS custody and awaiting their immigration court proceedings,” the Department of Homeland Security admitted in an August news brief.

Trump was wrong though about $1 billion being spent on giving criminal aliens gift cards. The actual value was $38 million.

Specifically, of the nearly $1 billion TOTAL that has been allocated to take care of criminal aliens, $38 million was given to New York City — a sanctuary city that’s been using the money to gift aliens with free gift cards, hotel stays, and even cash money.

“The NYC Department of Homeless Services (DHS) offered 150 families cash assistance through the Asylee Moveout Assistance (AMA), a pilot created in December last year to help find permanent housing for asylum seekers,” Fox News reported last month.

“Eligibility for the $4000 grant is solely limited to asylum-seeking families and pregnant women who are residing in select DHS emergency shelters and have already identified permanent housing,” according to Fox News.

Trump’s remarks came a day after Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced that FEMA lacks the funding to last through the remainder of the current hurricane season.

“We are meeting the immediate needs with the money that we have,” Mayorkas said, referencing FEMA’s response to Hurricane Helene. “We are expecting another hurricane hitting. We do not have the funds. FEMA does not have the funds to make it through the season.”

Coupled with the administration’s exorbitant spending on criminal aliens, this announcement spurred shock and anger from critics, many of whom accused the administration of being “America last.”
