A leftist reporter who allegedly engaged in an affair with presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has blamed her ex for exposing her.

Last month leftist reporter Olivia Nuzzi’s employer, New York magazine, announced that it was placing her on leave on account of her having “engaged in a personal relationship with a former subject relevant to the 2024 campaign while she was reporting on the campaign.”

That subject has since been identified as RFK.

Speaking with Status, Nuzzi later fessed up to some of it, saying that “earlier this year, the nature of some communication” between herself “and a former reporting subject turned personal.”

“During that time, I did not directly report on the subject nor use them as a source,” she added. “The relationship was never physical but should have been disclosed to prevent the appearance of a conflict. I deeply regret not doing so immediately and apologize to those I’ve disappointed, especially my colleagues at New York.”

Now flash forward to this week, when Nuzzi filed a courtroom complaint accusing her former fiancé, Ryan Lizza of Politico, of harassment and blackmail, according to CNN.

In the filing, she alleged that in mid-August, Lizza “explicitly threatened to make public personal information about me to destroy my life, career, and reputation—a threat he has since carried out.”

According to Nuzzi, Lizza began his alleged harassment in early July as a means to blackmail her into entering back into a relationship with him.

“She said by the next month, Lizza had stolen a personal electronic device from her, was hacking her devices, then anonymously shopping information about her to the media,” CNN notes.

“Some of the information may have been ‘doctored’ to hurt her more, Nuzzi alleged, and she believes Lizza impersonated ‘an anonymous campaign operative’ to give a political campaign information that would hurt her further, according to the court records,” according to CNN.

Nuzzi also accused her ex of tipping off her boss “through a third party or anonymous channel.”

She further accused Lizza of threatening her with violence “to assume his share of financial responsibility” for a joint book contract they had.

The court ultimately granted her a temporary protection order against Lizza that stipulates he no longer speaks with her and that he “immediately cease using any illegally obtained information” against her.

“The judge signed off on her request to have police accompany her when she attempts to get her possessions back from Lizza,” CNN notes.

Lizza for his part maintains that he’s innocent.

“I am saddened that my ex-fiancée would resort to making a series of false accusations against me as a way to divert attention from her own personal and professional failings,” he said in a statement. “I emphatically deny these allegations and I will defend myself against them vigorously and successfully.”

Sadly for him, he’s since been put on leave.

“POLITICO and Ryan Lizza have mutually agreed that it is in everyone’s best interest for him to step back and take a leave of absence while an investigation is conducted,” a spokesperson for the left-wing outlet said.

The next hearing in the case is scheduled for Oct. 15th. Lizza will then have an opportunity to officially tell his side of the story.

As for RFK, he’s denied that he and Nuzzi ever had an affair.

“Mr. Kennedy only met Olivia Nuzzi once in his life for an interview she requested, which yielded a hit piece,” a campaign spokesperson told Status.

RFK has been married to actress Cheryl Hines since 2014. Nuzzi meanwhile was engaged to Lizza since 2022, but the two reportedly called their marriage off sometime in the last few months.
