Lack of lip service on the campaign trail reportedly had Biden “particularly stung” as his “coup” completing vice president further distanced herself from their record.

With a debate disaster as justification, Biden’s bow out from the White House race afforded the Democratic Party the chance to sell their claim that keeping the status quo with Vice President Kamala Harris would somehow be different if she were given the lead.

Now, as the resident-in-chief’s lame duck administration creeps toward concluding a more than 50-year political career, NBC News reported that efforts for the party to distance itself from his record had Biden “privately complain[ing] to allies that his name and his accomplishments have virtually disappeared from the national conversation…”

According to one source cited in the report, “He understands completely the general lack of mentioning ‘Bidenomics’ and ‘Joe Biden.’ Politically he gets that.”

NBC News went on to suggest:

“But while Biden is attuned to political realities, he also has expressed a range of emotions about his exit from the race — from feeling his legacy rests on a Harris victory to anguishing over his imprint’s vanishing from the national stage…They described a president who feels loyal to his vice president and she to him — and less bitter than he was in the immediate aftermath of his exit from the race when he felt pushed out by people he thought were his friends, but also at times feeling left behind.”

One specific sore spot regarded Harris’ own debate with former President Donald Trump where the GOP leader had made a point of slamming the “Marxist” rival for silence on her true policy positions, stealing positions from him to appear less radical and remaining factually inseparable from the current administration as he argued, “She is Biden.”

In response, Harris had deflected, “Clearly, I am not Joe Biden. And I am certainly not Donald Trump. And what I do offer is a new generation of leadership for our country.”

The same sources asserting Biden had hurt feelings over the decrease in acknowledgments, amid the “very complex” situation, contended that the president “always” says to Harris “The most important thing is that you win.”

Meanwhile, White House spokesperson Andrew Bates told NBC News of alleged sentiments, “These uninformed claims are the polar opposite of the truth.”

“President Biden welcomes the strong response the American people are having to [Vice President Harris’] leadership and to policies that move us into the future, away from dangerous agendas from the past like MAGAnomics and abortion bans,” he added in a fashion that suggested much of the same as the report but spun to attack Trump.

Piling on to the impression of the sources rather than outright refuting messaging choices steering away from Biden’s legacy, a Harris campaign official told NBC News, “There wasn’t a real interest in hearing about his accomplishments when he was running. That’s still the case.”
