Former President Donald J. Trump proposed an innovative solution to America’s crime problem as leftist officials have handcuffed and defunded police since the 2020 race riots.

Despite the cooked statistics, crime is out of control with violent predators growing increasingly emboldened by anti-cop Democrat policies and criminal-coddling progressive prosecutors. The GOP nominee had a suggestion about how to restore law and order.

During a Sunday rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, Trump remarked on the sad situation in Democrat-controlled areas like New York City where an epidemic of shoplifting has forced stores to lock up items in protective cases, and suggested that “one really violent day” would send a message to criminals.

“You know, in New York, you can’t walk into a drugstore now,” the former president told the crowd. “It’s like you’re in a prison of glass. If you want to buy aspirin, you have to wait 45 minutes for a clerk to come up and open, because of what’s gone on,” Trump said telling the story of how he just lost a retail tenant because of the crime in the Big Apple.

“What the hell is going on?” Trump asked. “See, we have to let the police do their job, and if they have to be extraordinarily rough…,” as the crowd erupted in cheers. “And the police aren’t allowed to do their job. They’re told if you do anything, you’re gonna lose your pension, you’re gonna lose your family, your house, your car.”

“The police want to do it, the Border Patrol wants to do it,” he said. “They’re not allowed to do it because the liberal left won’t let them do it. The liberal left wants to destroy them and they want to destroy our country.”

“You know, if you had one day, like, one real rough, nasty day with the drug stores as an example, where when they start walking out with,  you know, she created something in San Francisco, $950, you’re allowed to steal,” he continued. “Anything above that you will be prosecuted. Well, it works out that the 950 is a misnomer because you can steal whatever you want. You can go way above, but you’d see it. Originally you saw kids walk in with calculators. They would calculate. They didn’t want to go over the $950 they’re standing with calculators, adding it up.”

“You know, these are smart, smart people. They’re not so stupid, but they have to be taught. Now, if you had one really violent day, like a guy like Mike Kelly put him in charge,” Trump said, referring to the Pennsylvania Republican who was at the event.

“Congressman Kelly put him in charge for one day. Mike, would you say you’re right here? He’s a great congressman. Would you say, Mike, that if you were in charge you would say, “Oh, please don’t touch them. Don’t touch them. Let them rob your store. Let all these stores go out of business,” right?” Trump asked.

“They don’t pay rent. The city does have the whole, it’s a chain of events, it’s so bad. One rough hour and I mean real rough, the word will get out and it will end immediately. End immediately. You know? It will end immediately,” he said.

Trump’s anti-criminal remarks triggered leftists on X, some of whom howled that what he proposed is a real-life version of the dystopian movie “The Purge” in which everything is legalized for 12 hours.

As leftists wailed in outrage over the idea that the cops would be unleashed, Team Trump said that the former president was “clearly just floating it in jest.”

“President Trump has always been the law and order President and he continues to reiterate the importance of enforcing existing laws,” Trump campaign Communications Director Steven Cheung said in a statement to the left-leaning outlet Politico. “Otherwise it’s all-out anarchy, which is what Kamala Harris has created in some of these communities across America, especially during her time as [California] Attorney General when she emboldened criminals.”

When it comes to the election, there’s only one choice when it comes to restoring law and order and it’s not the candidate who helped raise bail money for violent rioters during the George Floyd “Summer of Love” mayhem.
