Jewish voters were challenged by former President Donald Trump who expressed his disappointment with their voting record, urging them to break the “curse” of the Democratic Party.

Trump spoke at the Israeli-American Council summit in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, reminding all of his pro-Israel achievements as president and his unwavering support of the Jewish community. In light of the history, the Republican nominee expressed his surprise that only 40% of the Jewish voting bloc supports him according to polling.

From 2016 to 2020, during Trump’s tenure in the White House, his support from Jewish voters only increased from 25% to 29%, a fact he noted during his remarks.

“I did all of these things, and I only got 29% [in 2020],” Trump said.

“But I will put it to you very simply and gently. I really haven’t been treated right. But you haven’t been treated right because you’re putting yourself in great danger. And the United States hasn’t been treated right,” he told the audience.

He went on to warn that if Jewish voters do not turn out for him it could “have a lot to do with a loss.”

“So I’m not going to call this as a prediction, but in my opinion, the Jewish people would have a lot to do with a loss if I’m at 40%…That means 60% are voting for Kamala, who in particular is a bad Democrat. The Democrats are bad to Israel. Very bad. They’ll never change because they have a section of their party now which has become amazingly and quickly very powerful vote-wise,” he continued, joking that Sen. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is “a Palestinian.”

The quip about the highest-ranking Jewish official in the U.S. government and his recent shift against Israel prompted laughter from the audience. But Trump’s message was clear for Jewish voters who continue to support Democrats who have increasingly, under pressure from the far-left members of the party, condemned and snubbed Israel.

“You can’t let this happen. 40% is not acceptable. Because we have an election to win,” Trump said.

“It’s a tough thing to say. … I have to tell you the truth. And maybe you’ll be energized. Because there’s no way that I should be getting 40% of the vote. I’m the one that’s protecting you. These are the people that are going to destroy you, and you have 60% of the Jewish people essentially voting for them,” he said.

“If I do win, Israel will be safe and secure, and we will stop the toxic poison of antisemitism from spreading all over America and all over the world, and we’ll get it stopped,” Trump added.

“The crowd was very supportive, given that many of the IAC’s members are Israeli in origin. They applauded lines that mainstream, left-of-center media outlets have suggested were shocking or even antisemitic, such as Trump’s claim that Jews who vote Democratic ‘should to have their head examined’ (a shared sentiment among conservative Jews),” Breitbart reported.

“Trump has rarely been acknowledged by the institutional leadership of the Jewish community for his work on its behalf, including an executive order protecting Jewish students from discrimination on campus, and his policy on Israel,” the outlet added. “Only the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA), among major nonpartisan Jewish groups, has honored his contributions.”
