A new report on the dangers faced by Big Apple straphangers belied the real-time “fact-checks” from Vice President Kamala Harris and ABC News’ David Muir.

After former President Donald Trump had been found himself in a three against one debate Tuesday with moderators Linsey Davis and Muir running defense for Harris, the former had admitted to preparing to challenge the GOP leader during the primetime event. The rather one-sided spectacle has since only looked worse, particularly on the issue of crime.

Saturday, the New York Post reported on NYPD data that revealed, “Murders soar 60% on NYC subways, nearing record.”

The details prompted journalist Miranda Devine to react, “Oh. I thought Kamala and David Muir told us violent crime was down.”

Within the report, it was explained that as of Sept. 8 there had been eight murders on the subway since the beginning of the year; up from five over the same period the previous year and closing on the 25-year high of 10 that had been recorded in 2022.

It was also noted that from 1997 through 2020, there had been no more than five murders in any given year.

During the debate, Trump had responded to a question about mass deportations by asserting “And all over the world crime is down. All over the world except here. Crime here is up and through the roof. Despite their fraudulent statements that they made. Crime in this country is through the roof. And we have new form of crime. It’s called migrant crime. And it’s happening at levels that nobody thought possible.”

Pushing back, Muir had argued, “President Trump, as you know, the FBI says overall violent crime is coming down in this country-”

“Excuse me,” interjected the president, ” the FBI — they were defrauding statements. They didn’t include the worst cities. They didn’t include the cities with the worst crime. It was a fraud. Just like their number of 818,000 jobs that they said they created turned out to be a fraud.”

Earlier this year it was reported that the transition to a new voluntary National Incident-Based Reporting System at the beginning of the Biden-Harris administration had only reached 83% participation by the end of 2023.

Further, on Thursday, Trump Campaign National Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt had responded after new data from the Department of Justice’s National Crime Victimizations Survey found from 2020-2023 violent crime had increased 37%, assaults had gone up 34% and rape was up 42%.

Additionally, as Trump had brought up the impact of illegal aliens on crime, it had been found that as much as 75% of the arrests in Midtown Manhattan in recent months had been of foreign nationals.

“If Kamala is give another four years and the chance to implement her weak-on-crime, defund the police, no cash bail policies, America will continue to turn into a crime-ridden hellhole for illegal immigrants, Venezuelan gangsters, and drug dealers,” said Leavitt. “ONLY President Trump will restore law and order, protect our police, secure the border, deport illegal immigrants, and prosecute criminals to the fullest extent of the law. If you want to be safe, VOTE TRUMP.”

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the NYPD held to the reduction narrative and told the Post as total crime decreased almost 6% since the year prior, “This overall crime reduction is due in large part to thorough investigations by detectives into every major crime within the subway, and the proactive work of officers deployed in the transit system.”

“This year alone, those very officers removed 43 guns (compared to 28 last year) and 1,536 knives (compared to 1,004 last year) from the subway system, the highest weapons seizure rates in the last decade,” added the spokesperson
