Former President Donald Trump is claiming he wanted to appoint his daughter, Ivanka Trump, to be the “United Nations secretary” during his term in office.

Trump made the revelation during an appearance with the conservative group Moms for Liberty at their event in Washington, D.C., last week.

“I’d love to know why you choose and continue to choose to work with your children in business and politics,” Moms for Liberty co-founder Tiffany Justice asked. “And do you have any advice for people about working with your kids?”

“Well, I’ve always liked it,” the former president replied. “I don’t know that I’ll be doing very much of it politically because I think it’s been unfair to them. Like, Ivanka was great. She could’ve done anything. Great student. Beautiful girl. Beautiful everything. She’s a perfect person. Worked hard.”

He went on to note that Ivanka — who served as an adviser along with her husband, Jared Kushner, throughout her father’s term — had a fashion line prior to joining the White House.

“But she gave it up because she wanted to go,” he continued. “And she didn’t want something like the United Nations secretary. I wanted her to do that. I said, you would be a great ambassador to the United Nations, United Nations secretary. There’d be nobody to compete with her.”

Ivanka has said she does not want to rejoin her father’s administration should he win another term in November and, in fact, has been transitioning away from politics altogether, and has become involved in other interests, including learning how to fly a helicopter.

In July 2023, Ivanka posted a short video to her Instagram showing her flying a helo over a body of water as the song “Learnin’ to Fly” by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers played.

The UK’s Express speculated that she was flying off the coast of Florida, where she and her husband, Jared Kushner, live.

The British tabloid went on to note that her ‘pilot uniform’ for the day was a Dolce and Gabbana Majolica-floral dress.

In another photo posted to her IG page, Ivanka is wearing a one-piece bathing suit and carrying a surfboard captioned: “Soaking up the summer solstice.”

A recent report in People noted that Ivanka has sought out and embraced a more private life.

“Ivanka is spending precious time with her husband and her children, doing what she loves most, being a mother,” an unnamed source reportedly told the magazine. “She feels there is no better way to honor her late mother than to nurture and love on her own children.”

Her mother, Ivana Trump, passed away on July 14, 2022.

“While it has only been a year since Ivana passed, her role as both a remarkable mother and grandmother has left an impact on their lives and will forever be remembered,” the source added.

Ivanka also spoke out following the indictment of her father by a Manhattan grand jury last year.

As reported by Business Insider, Ivanka took to Instagram Stories to issue a short statement, saying that she is “pained” for both her father and the country.

“I love my father and I love my country. Today, I am pained for both,” the statement began. “I appreciate the voices across the political spectrum expressing support and concern.”
