BOISE, ID — A local family’s daily routine proceeded as usual today, as a mom dropped her kids off at daycare so she could head to the second job that she works to make enough money to pay for daycare.

Jenna Reese dropped off her two young children at Mountains of Fun Daycare just in time for her to make it through traffic to start her shift at her second job, where she brings in extra income to cover the price of childcare.

“Have fun, kids! I’ve got to head to work so I can afford to leave you here!” she said to her son and daughter as they hopped out of her SUV and ran toward the daycare entrance. “Behave yourselves and play nice! Your dad will pick you up later after he gets off of work and I’ll be back home to make dinner! Nice seeing you for a few minutes!”

Jenna then quickly headed off to her shift in the bakery section of the supermarket. “It’s not a bad job,” she said. “I do what I’ve got to do, ya know? Daycare is expensive these days, so I picked up this part-time job in the evenings so I could pay for it. Do I wish I could stay home? Sure! But daycare won’t pay for itself, right?”

At publishing time, Jenna was looking forward to finishing up her shift so she could start planning the family’s next vacation so she and her husband could come home and have a relaxing break from their vacation.
