CNN has not been known as a media outlet that has been fair or friendly to former President Donald Trump, especially during his term in office, but the network has been making a sincere effort in recent weeks to become somewhat more balanced.

The most recent instance occurred on Wednesday during a live segment when the network’s fact-checker pointed out that Vice President Kamala Harris and Democrats’ assertion that former President Donald Trump is associated with the conservative manifesto “Project 2025” is untrue.

During the segment, CNN aired a clip of Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-Del.) claiming that Trump is the author of the manifesto.

“That is false,” CNN’s Daniel Dale responded after playing the clip. “Trump did not write Project 2025, the…big policy document published by the Heritage Foundation think tank.” He added that it “lists dozens of people as authors, editors, contributors,” but “Donald Trump is not among them.”

Nevertheless, Harris, during her nomination acceptance speech Thursday evening, still plans to falsely link Trump to the document, The Hill reported.

“Harris will use the speech to connect Trump to the agenda and argue that it would rip away freedoms, increase the cost of living and take the country backwards, aligning with her campaign slogan ‘we’re not going back,’” the outlet reported. “She plans to also outline her ‘New Way Forward’ plan, which the campaign official said is an optimistic agenda that provides economic opportunity and protects fundamental freedoms.”

The Harris campaign and Democrats have been trying to tie Trump to the manifesto for weeks, but the former president has repeatedly argued he had no part in its creation and is not at all supportive of many of its tenets.

“I know nothing about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it. I disagree with some of the things they’re saying and some of the things they’re saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal,” Trump noted on his Truth Social platform in early July. “Anything they do, I wish them luck, but I have nothing to do with them.”

A partner organization collaborating with Project 2025 is currently conducting research on federal employees. Just the News reported that they are compiling a list of individuals who may oppose Trump’s agenda in the event he wins the presidency again in November.

Meanwhile, Trump is planning a visit to the porous, chaotic U.S.-Mexico border on Thursday during a two-day campaign sweep through Arizona, according to reports.

Trump’s border visit will be in Cochise County ahead of Vice President Kamala Harris’ nomination acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday. From there, he’ll travel to Glendale for a rally at the Desert Diamond Arena, the same venue where Harris appeared earlier this month. The former president will visit at 11:30 a.m. local time.

This week’s visit to Arizona is Trump’s second in as many months. He also did a rally in Phoenix in June.

The GOP nominee plans to address immigration policy in Arizona, a crucial swing state, as Republicans aim to counter Harris’ momentum by highlighting an issue where Democrats are perceived to be vulnerable, Newsweek noted.

Harris and the Democrats face mounting criticism from Republicans, who argue that their approach to border security and immigration policy lacks toughness. Republicans hold the vice president responsible for the high numbers of illegal crossings that have occurred during the Biden-Harris administration after the president tasked her with mitigating illegal immigration and tightening border security, which she clearly has failed to do.

Trump’s campaign said there’s “no end in sight for Kamala Harris’ border crisis.”

“While failed border czar Kamala Harris adopts the Biden Basement strategy to hide from the illegal immigrant invasion created by her radical policies, President Trump will be visiting the southern border again. President Trump knows how important the border crisis is to Americans and will once again deliver on his promise to stop the invasion, secure the border, and make America safe.” Taylor Rogers, a Republican National Committee spokesperson, told Newsweek.
