Pat McAfee addressed the Angela Carini/Imane Khelif/Olympics brouhaha (if I may invoke a little French) on ESPN yesterday. And in a twist you wouldn’t normally hear on ESPN, he made the shocking comment that it’s unfair and potentially dangerous for boys to compete against girls.

Yeah, I know. “But Brodigan, Khelif isn’t trans. She’s intersex, we think.” The story was confusing at first. Since the media writes around issues like this so as not to get canceled over using a wrong pronoun, at first, it appeared as another example of a guy claiming to be a girl brutalizing a girl who was both that way. In the story, the girl was a genetic anomaly born with way too much testosterone. She still shouldn’t have been allowed to fight because, when forced to choose who to be unfair to, it shouldn’t be the person who be permanently injured.

The story still opened up the debate of whether it’s fair to force women to compete against men/other “women” with genetic abnormalities. McAfee had the courage to say no.

I know that it’s not every woman and not every male physical body. We’re not talking about souls, we’re talking about physical bodies, but at those high level of competition, there is a clear advantage. … There is no reason why we should be seeing a potential male [physically] body punching a [woman].

He admitted he didn’t have all the answers. But his main point still stands.

Back in political world, this SHOULD have been our side’s one united message in the presidential race. Kamala Harris (and her potential running mate) not only support forcing girls to compete against boys, but it was also the day that the Harris-Biden admin’s Title IX changes went into affect.

We could have, if we had a disciplined candidate running a disciplined campaign, identified the most effective talking points and distributed them to our surrogates so that this was the one thing they were talking about. Instead, we wasted day 3 of claiming Kamala isn’t really Black.

“But Brodigan, it’s unfair! The media! Astroturf! Influencers!”

Yes, it is unfair that when the Harris Campaign uses all the tools at their disposal, they have more tools available to them. If only we had super popular influencers on our side. Maybe ones who even agree with us on this specific issue.

From a political aspect, we were handed a gift yesterday that the Trump Campaign wasted. We have less than 100 days before the election.
