Crass and clueless to the bitter end, President Joe Biden showed an astounding degree of insensitivity during a White House briefing on the devastating California wildfires, sparking criticism with a “disgusting” remark that shows a complete lack of empathy from the outgoing leader.
On Thursday, the geriatric Democrat gathered with senior administration officials to address the federal government’s response to the fires which have destroyed large swaths of areas near Los Angeles, including much of Pacific Palisades, leaving thousands homeless.
At one point during the briefing at the Roosevelt Room’s board table, Biden turned to VP Kamala Harris, who’s from California, and urged her to “fire away” in a tone-deaf and tasteless quip that social media users roasted.

“Madam vice president, I know you’re directly affected, so you fire away!” Biden told Harris who flashed a stunned look at his inappropriate choice of terms.
“No pun intended,” Biden added.
Not finished with insulting the victims, moments later he implored US Forest Service Chief Randy Moore to do the same thing.
“Chief, why don’t you fire away?” Biden said, even as fires continued to rage through tens of thousands of acres near the City of Angels where elected Democrats are catching hell for their mismanagement before and during the inferno, including fire hydrants that were inexplicably out of water.
X users scorched Biden over his poor choice of words.
People have lost their homes and some have even lost their lives and this guy has jokes ♀️

“Fire away. No pun intended.”
Most of the time, @JoeBiden is just a mean, vindictive person (has been his whole career), but in this case I think this can be blamed on his senility. pic.twitter.com/aciXx7vZxk— Derek Hunter (@derekahunter) January 9, 2025
What a jerk.

Biden’s insensitive remarks came the day after he told reporters “The good news is I’m a great-grandfather as of today,” during a visit to a Santa Monica fire station, drawing criticism for making it all about him and not the people who had just lost everything they owned in the blazes.

During Thursday’s briefing, the soon-to-be ex-president also defended fellow Democrats California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, who was on the shortlist to be his 2020 running mate. Both are at the center of a firestorm over their failed leadership.
“What I know from talking to the governor [is] that there are concerns out there that there’s also been a water shortage. The fact is, the utilities understandably shut off power because they’re worried the lines that carry energy were going to be blown down and spark additional fires,” Biden said of the dry hydrants.
“Fire is spreading rapidly for 3 days — ZERO CONTAINMENT. Nobody has ever seen such failed numbers before! Gross incompetence by Gavin Newscum and Karen Bass….And Biden’s FEMA has no money — all wasted on the Green New Scam! L.A. is a total wipeout!!!” President-elect Donald J. Trump wrote in a Thursday post to Truth Social, one of several in which he has blasted Newsom.
