As wildfires rage across California, celebrities are sharing images of their homes that have been reduced to ashes by the blaze.

Socialite Paris Hilton posted a heartbreaking message to X, accompanying a video of her home that had been reduced to rubble, with some parts still on fire.

Watch:

“I’m standing here in what used to be our home, and the heartbreak is truly indescribable. When I first saw the news, I was in complete shock—I couldn’t process it. But now, standing here and seeing it with my own eyes, it feels like my heart has shattered into a million pieces,” Hilton wrote. “This house wasn’t just a place to live— It was where we dreamed, laughed, and created the most beautiful memories as a family. It was where Phoenix’s little hands made art that I’ll cherish forever, where love and life filled every corner. To see it reduced to ashes… it’s devastating beyond words.”

“What breaks my heart even more is knowing that this isn’t just my story. So many people have lost everything. It’s not just walls and roofs—it’s the memories that made those houses homes. It’s the photos, the keepsakes, the irreplaceable pieces of our lives. And yet, in this pain, I know I’m incredibly lucky. My loved ones, my babies, and my pets are safe. That’s the most important thing, and I’m holding onto that gratitude with everything I have. And beyond grateful to all the firefighters, first responders and volunteers risking their lives to fight these fires,” she added. “To everyone who has sent love, prayers, and kindness—you’ve reminded me that even in the ashes, there is still beauty in this world. Thank you from the deepest part of my heart. And to everyone going through this pain, please know you’re not alone. We’re in this together. We will rebuild, we will heal, and we will rise stronger than before.”

“Let this be a reminder to hold your loved ones close. Cherish the moments. Life can change in an instant, and it’s the love we share that truly matters. I’m sending all my love to everyone who is hurting right now.”

Actor Mel Gibson also had his home leveled by the raging flames while he was out of state filming an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience. He spoke about his devastating loss on NewsNation’s Elizabeth Vargas Reports.

“It’s emotional,” he explained. “I had my stuff there. I’ve been relieved from the burden of my stuff because it’s all in cinders.”

“Where were you when the fire broke out?” Vargas asked.

“I was in Austin, I was doing the Rogan podcast and I was kind of ill at ease while we were talking because I knew my neighborhood was on fire. So I thought, I wonder if my place is still there. When I got home, sure enough, it wasn’t there,” he said. “I went home and I said to myself ‘Well, at least I haven’t got any of those pesky plumbing problems anymore.’”

“When did you drive up, did you take this video that we’re looking at?” Vargas wondered.

“Yeah I was taking some of it, you know, Rose took some. The chickens survived, it was amazing. They were in the chicken coop and they were fine so we gave ’em some grain and some water and they’re happy and laying eggs. They weren’t roast chickens,” Gibson quipped.

“I have never seen a place so perfectly burnt,” the actor said later. “It’s kind of like, you can put it in an urn, you know?”

When asked how his neighbors were doing, Gibson revealed that not all of them were affected by the fire.

“Some of the neighbors really got it hard. Ed Harris, the actor, he lives down the street, I think his place is gone. And many of my friends up and down the street- and it was random,” he noted. “It wasn’t every place but it was quite a few places. There was a dozen places or so that were just non-existant. I mean nothing but a chimney and a few roof tiles.

“The vehicles were gone, everything. It was completely toasted. I’ve never seen such a complete burn. It’s like someone did it on purpose to really destroy every aspect of it,” he added.
