The mayor of Bogalusa, Louisiana (the most Louisiana sounding city ever) is apparently learning that lesson right now as he has been arrested on drug and soliciting prostitution charges, brought in by the state authorities.

25-year-old Democrat Bogalusa Mayor, Tyrin Truong, was arrested on Tuesday following an extensive drug trafficking investigation which uncovered links to illegal firearms and prostitution …

The organization distributed drugs such as opioids, high-grade marijuana, THC products and MDMA, according to law enforcement officials.

The profits were used to purchase firearms, which were then sold to individuals legally prohibited from possessing them. Some of the weapons have been connected to violent crimes in the area, police said.

This is some big time, old-fashioned, Louisiana Democrat corruption that you might have expected to see about 100 years ago in the days of Huey Long.

But I guess some things never change.

An investigation was started back in April by the Louisiana State Police, and now Mayor Troung has been charged with “engaging in transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses, solicitation of prostitutes and unauthorized use of a movable [in this case, a car].”

Police arrested seven suspects in total and say they have several other individuals under investigation.

Truong has been released on $150,000 bail.
