Sky News has had a knack these past few days for being in the right place at the right time to catch California’s Democrat politicians embarrassing themselves as large parts of their state are decimated by out-of-control wildfires.

As RedState’s Sister Toldjah recounted Wednesday, L.A. Mayor Karen Bass, fresh off her boondoggle to Ghana, was caught at an L.A.-area airport by a Sky News reporter who asked her to comment on why she was AWOL as her city burned.

REPORTER: “Do you owe citizens an apology for being absent while their homes were burning?”

MAYOR KAREN BASS: *Silence*

REPORTER: “Do you regret cutting the fire department budget by millions of dollars?”

MAYOR: *Silence*

REPORTER: “Have you nothing to say? @ElonMusk says that you’re incompetent. Are you considering your position?”

MAYOR: *Silence, walks away*

She literally had nothing to say to her constituents who were, at that very moment, fleeing their homes and looking for leadership. Being a Democrat means not having to answer for your incompetence and malfeasance, and that’s particularly true in California.

Well, California’s governor, Gavin Newsom, had his own “Karen Bass moment” Thursday as Sky News caught him being accosted by a desperate woman—from what appeared to be the Pacific Palisades area—who wanted some answers from him. Instead of providing her with answers or reassurances, Newsom instead pretended he was on the phone with Joe Biden.

It’s brutally embarrassing.

WOMAN: Governor! Governor! I live here, governor. That was my daughter’s school. Will you tell me what you’re going to do.

NEWSOM: I’m literally talking to the president right now to specifically answer the question of what we can do for you and your daughter.

WOMAN: Can I hear? Can I hear your call? Because I don’t believe it.

At this point, Newsom seems desperate to not talk to his constituent and starts fidgeting with his phone. It’s quite obvious that he’d rather be anywhere else than with this devastated woman who fears for her community.

NEWSOM: I’m sorry. I’ve tried literally like five times, that’s why I’m walking around trying to make the call.

WOMAN: Why is the president not taking your call?

NEWSOM: Because it’s not going through.

WOMAN: Why?

NEWSOM: Because I have to get cell service.

WOMAN: So let’s get it. Let’s get it. I want to be here when you call the president.

NEWSOM: I appreciate that. I’m doing that right now.

Newsom then word vomits out something about reimbursements, resources, and his devastation over her plight.

When the woman asks why there was no water in the hydrants—even offering to fill them herself—the governor had no answers, telling her “it has to be different” next time. He then beats a hasty exit, leaving the woman and her young daughter standing in the rubble of their neighborhood.

This is what you get when you put Democrats in positions of leadership. A lot of destruction and inaction, and not a lot of answers. If Gavin Newsom ever runs for office again—and we know he will—this footage should be run on a loop since it shows his utter weakness and lack of fitness for higher office.

Gavin Newsom has the political presence of a teen boy who’s trying to avoid the girl he stood up last Friday. He has no business being in public office if he can’t even console Californians when they are at their lowest.

The only good thing to come out of this is that Sky News seems to be slowing its descent into leftist hackery and actually doing some acts of journalism.
