X owner Elon Musk is moved by what he’s seeing as the Los Angeles area is devastated by wildfires, and he’s offering to help out—by offering free Starlink internet service to affected locations.

He announced the move on social media after seeing that a local reporter was only able to file reports using the satellite internet service. Starlink is a subsidiary of SpaceX, where Musk is the CEO.

Musk also posted a tragic video from a friend showing the devastation in what looks to be the Pacific Palisades area:

He also blasted California officials in several other posts, saying the fires were preventable:
“These fires are easily avoidable, but nonsense regulations in California prevent action being taken, so year after year homes burn down and more people die,” Musk declared in a post on X.
“My friend just texted me that his house burned down again. His old house also burned down in an uncontrolled wildfire several years ago. California could easily stop these massive wildfires, but refuses to put in fire breaks for bogus environmental reasons,” he said in a separate post…
In another post, he asserted that “crazy environmental regulations prevent building fire breaks and clearing brush near houses,” which “allows massive fires to get going.”

Whether Musk’s Starlink offer was in response to Chinese-spy-loving Eric Swalwell’s lame trolling of him is unclear. My guess is Elon just ignored the sniveling California Democrat Congressman.
This is so sad.
Elon, I believe you want to help as much as I do.
I’ll use my post on Homeland Security Committee to have an open mind re: concerns over fire cause/response. Can you use this platform and your money to help poorer families who lost their homes/workplaces? https://t.co/O2b1Ej2KZq
— Rep. Eric Swalwell (@RepSwalwell) January 8, 2025
Eric, question for you: are you asking billionaires Melinda Gates, Laurene Powell Jobs, Jeff Bezos, George Soros, or Mark Zuckerberg for their help? If so, I’m not seeing it. You’re just trolling Musk because he’s exposing California Democrats for the ineffective failures they are.
We’ve detailed extensively the massive blunders of California’s “leadership” class that helped leave us vulnerable to this disaster. It is true that the wind was unprecedented, and the firefighters have been valiantly doing their part, but the lack of water in the Palisades is inexcusable, and Mayor Bass being AWOL as the situation unfolded is emblematic of her priorities.

Meanwhile, as RedState’s Bonchie wrote, Gov. Gavin Newsom said about the lack of water available for firefighters: “the local folks are gonna figure that out.” Pathetic.

The fires are far from done, and many of my friends have lost their houses. We welcome any help Musk can offer and thank him for it. Swalwell can go back under his bridge to play troll by himself.
