President Joe Biden appeared alongside Gov Gavin Newsom at a briefing about the California wildfires but offered no relevant remarks about the disaster.
Instead, the outgoing president gave some off-topic comments as he promised the federal government would give the state “everything you need” and be there for the long haul. But rather than take questions in light of the ongoing deadly disaster spreading across Los Angeles County, the 82-year-old announced he had become a great-grandfather.
“The good news is I’m a great-grandfather as of today,” Biden said, referring to his eldest granddaughter having her first child.
Not surprisingly, the president took no questions from reporters.

Before his announcement, Biden commented after meeting with firefighting officials.
“We’re prepared to do anything and everything as long as it takes to contain these fires and help reconstruct, make sure that we can get back to normal,” he said.
“It’s gonna be a hell of a long way. It’s gonna take time. But the government is here to stay, as long as you need us. Give everything you need. Anything you asked and haven’t gotten yet?” he added.
“It’s impossible for me to express the level of appreciation,” Newsom told the president.
The Democrat governor, who has come under heavy criticism for the state’s lack of preparedness in the face of the deadly wildfires, signed a declaration of emergency.
“The situation in Los Angeles is highly dangerous and rapidly evolving. President Biden’s swift action is a huge lift for California — as we throw everything we can into protecting residents with substantial state, local and federal resources,” Newsom said in a statement. “To all those in Southern California, please continue to listen to local authorities and don’t wait, evacuate if asked.”
No sooner had Biden announced the birth of his first great-grandchild than his team immediately began to push out the press, as reporters tried to shout out questions that were left unanswered.

Social media erupted at the optics.
Newsom’s best idea when his state is on fire is a press conference with Joe Biden.

Talk about not reading the room – but I’m not surprised by this. Remember the Maui fires when he tried to equate it to a kitchen fire and his corvette??? What an embarrassment

It’s almost impressive how out of touch Biden is. Thousands are losing everything and he thinks people give a sh*t about him becoming a great grandfather.. The level of tone-deafness is staggering.
