State, federal and out-of-state agencies to provide help to Los Angeles: ‘Not enough firefighters’

State, federal and out-of-state agencies are offering to help Los Angeles fight the active wildfires, given that the city’s current resources are stretched thin, officials announced during a Wednesday evening briefing.

“There are not enough firefighters in L.A. County to address four separate fires of this magnitude,” Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone said.

The California National Guard and Northern California firefighters and out-of-state firefighters were reportedly in route to Los Angeles at the time of the briefing, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Marrone said that he has asked for assistance from out-of-state emergency response agencies in states including Oregon, New Mexico, Washington, Utah.

“Last night, I contacted the State Office of Emergency Services and requested 250 additional engine companies from Northern California, staffed with over 1,000 personnel,” Marrone said.
