Salem recently made some other changes to strengthen its financial footing. Our Christian-music stations were sold off and our creditors settled all of our debt, leaving Salem with no other encumbrances except the usual revolving debt and a greater focus on our core businesses: Christian and political news and commentary, in both broadcast, publishing and web properties. That allows us to start restrategizing for our strengths and prepare for more opportunities.
Creating a Chief Strategy Officer now makes good sense, in other words. Previously, our options may have been too limited to warrant it, but now we should prepare for the future with the best and brightest in our ranks. Parscale’s stunning success with Facebook and other social-media platforms in building a grassroots movement for Donald Trump highlights the skills and talent he could bring to bear for Salem, including our Townhall Media division.
