While Mark Zuckerberg had hinted that he expected Trump to win, that outcome has now become his reality. Subsequently, significant changes are unfolding at Meta. And at the very least, we can say: “Better late than never.”

Among those major changes is appointing Dana White to the Meta Board.

According to SEMAFOR:

In a video announcing the new policy, which relaxes restrictions on free speech, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the fact-checking system had “reached a point where it’s just too many mistakes and too much censorship.” He also noted that recent elections “feel like a cultural tipping point towards once again prioritizing speech.”

The move comes as Meta looks to build ties with the incoming Trump administration. The organization this week appointed Dana White, CEO of the Ultimate Fighting Championship and a staunch Trump ally, to its board, and replaced the head of its global policy team, a former center-left UK politician, with a prominent Republican.

Zuckerberg may or may not have come around to the idea that Meta was never intended to be the arbiter of truth but he is at least doing what’s best for his company. Not only have they proven they wish to have a good relationship with the Trump administration, but they have also made changes similar to the ones Elon Musk has made.

It’s unclear what Zuckerberg will do if the Democrats win in 2028, but that is neither here nor there. At the end of the day, he is the CEO of META, and his job is to serve the best interests of Meta. Coincidentally, White is always there to save the day when woke corporations get themselves in a pickle.
