It doesn’t really matter what end of the political spectrum you are on. If you have a pulse, you have been well aware of the seismic shift in America since Donald Trump’s resounding victory on November 5. The left might not yet be willing to admit it, but the air is very different now regarding anything Trump. Oh, sure, there is still plenty of Trump Derangement Syndrome to go around, but there are also quite a few entities who might just be starting to come around. One of them is Amazon.

Former and future First Lady Melania Trump, who, despite being a First Lady, has been a fairly private person, signed a $40 million deal to produce a documentary about her life with Amazon. That documentary is set to include appearances by First Son Barron, as well as President Trump. The deal also covers any future projects involving the First Lady over the next four years. Another sometimes seemingly anti-Trump body, Disney, was also in the running to produce the documentary. The documentary will give some up close and personal insight into Melania Trump’s life, from humble beginnings in Slovenia through her modeling career to the White House. Melania Trump is one of only two First Ladies born outside the U.S., the other being Louisa Adams, wife of John Quincy Adams.

Melania Trump, who was a shrewd businesswoman in her own right before she met the president, will be the executive producer and is “insisting on control and approval.” Amazon founder and executive chairman Jeff Bezos is said to have taken an interest in the upcoming documentary and is fostering a friendly relationship with the president.

It is an intriguing turn of events. Since the election, in addition to Bezos, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Apple CEO Tim Cook, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman have all made pilgrimages to Mar-A-Lago. Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk has become a permanent fixture there. Since Trump’s reelection, the nation’s tech titans have opted for the idea that working with Trump might actually be to their economic benefit. Bezos has contributed a $1 million donation to Trump’s inaugural fund and plans to stream it on the Amazon Prime video platform.
But if the world of Big Tech is now extending a friendly hand to Donald Trump, will others conclude that it might be in their best interests to do so as well in the form of extending that friendly hand to his wife? In the past, most first ladies graced the covers of fashion and household magazines. But not Melania Trump. Granted, most of New York’s fashion mavens steer clear of Republicans as much as humanly possible, but in years past, even Barbara and Laura Bush managed a cover or two. But not the First Lady who actually was a model. Her husband was just too much to stomach for the fashion crowd, and they stayed far away from her. If a documentary on her life does well, could that change in Trump’s second term?

While the documentary is in the works, Melania Trump says she is much more prepared for life at the White House than before. While promoting her memoir in 2023 entitled “Melania,” she said:
“I’m not anxious because this time is different. I have much more experience and much more knowledge. I was in the White House before. When you go in, you know exactly what to expect.”
The documentary is as yet untitled and is scheduled for both a theatrical and streaming release sometime this year.
