This is to politics what the WWE is to wrestling, but I still can’t help but love it.
You can just imagine the reaction of the “journalists” over there at Axios.
You don’t need to imagine it, though. They wrote an entire article to complain about it.
The measure is in response to President-elect Trump floating the idea at an earlier press conference — during which he also declined to rule out seizing Panama and Greenland by military force.
Trump has been pushing an imperialist vision that includes U.S. acquisition of Greenland, Panama, and — on a more facetious note — Canada.
Looking for ways to acquire more territory through trade deals and purchases is a sign of a healthy country, actually.
(I know Obama and Biden prefer carpet bombs and/or drone strikes in resource-rich nations in the Middle East, as well as U.S. “aid” schemes that fund dictatorships and build abortion clinics in Africa.)
Greene said on conservative influencer Benny Johnson’s podcast she was ‘so fired up watching the press conference’ that she directed her staff ‘to immediately draft legislation.’
It is unclear how the bill would impose the name change, though Greene suggested it would require federal agencies, including the U.S. military, to make ‘Gulf of America’ the official name they use to refer to the Gulf.
I can’t wait for this linguistic change to become another cultural fault line.
Look, there’s a legitimate limit to American patriotism that tips over into vain idolatry.
But considering the Left has spent decades preaching about how backward and oppressive America is, I don’t think we’re even close to that limit!
