The United States Capitol Police (USCP) detained a second man on Wednesday, this time detaining a man who allegedly claimed to have napalm in his vehicle near the Grant memorial on Capitol Hill, according to a news report.

USCP arrested another man earlier Wednesday who tried to enter the Capitol visitor center with knives and a machete in his bag. The man was in the security line to honor the late President Jimmy Carter, who is currently lying in state at the Capitol rotunda.

The police confirmed on X that it took a second man into custody because of a suspicious vehicle, but the bomb squad has since cleared the vehicle.

“We have responded to a suspicious vehicle along First Street, NW, near the Grant Memorial,” the police said in a thread on X. “Our officers have taken the driver into custody … Please continue to avoid the area, while our officers work to clear the scene.”

The post did not include a comment about napalm, which a source had told the Daily Wire. The source claimed a grounds crew worker noticed the man trying to light something by his car, which the man said was napalm.

It is not clear what the suspect had intended to do with the lighted substance. Napalm has been used on battlefields in flamethrowers and bombs.

The USCP has not announced any charges for the second suspect so far, but the first was charged with multiple counts of carrying a dangerous weapon.
