The woman named to serve as State Department spokesperson has a prior history of trash-talking her future boss on the Internet.
Last Friday, President-elect Donald Trump named Fox News contributor Tammy Bruce to serve as State Department secretary under Secretary of State nominee Marco Rubio.
Bruce has a history of trash-talking Rubio during his Senate career and also during his attempts at running for president.
When Rubio announced in 2014 that he intended to run for president in 2016, here’s how Bruce responded:
Another inexperienced senator who’s never run a thing in his life? Pass. MT @loudobbsnews: Rubio I’m Ready to be Pres http://t.co/FIF19ltT14
— Tammy Bruce (@HeyTammyBruce) May 11, 2014
The animosity toward Rubio continued up and through the election.

Marco trying to insert himself in the NoKo ? to Cruz was weak. Like the kid waving frantically in the back of room trying to prove relevance

Strange. I didn’t mute Trump but I had to mute Marco.

In a statement to Politico, Bruce for her current part said it’s “a pleasure to serve in President Trump’s administration and I am thrilled to work with Senator Rubio who has been one of the president’s strongest allies when it comes to the America First agenda.”
She added that she’s looking forward to Rubio’s “swift and speedy confirmation.”
Her position meanwhile requires no Senate confirmation.
In announcing Bruce as the next State Department spokesperson, Trump admitted that she used to be a liberal.
“Tammy is a highly respected political analyst who understood the power and importance of ‘MAGA’ early on,” he wrote. “She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science at the University of Southern California and, after being a liberal activist in the 1990s, saw the lies and fraud of the Radical Left, and quickly became one of the strongest Conservative voices on Radio and Television.”
According to Them magazine, Bruce began her career as the head of the National Organization for Women’s (NOW) Los Angeles chapter and later became the first openly gay woman to host a mainstream radio show.
However, Bruce was eventually denounced by NOW and also fired from her radio job after she protested the late O.J. Simpson’s controversial 1995 murder acquittal.
“What we need to teach our children is … not about racism, but is about violence against women,” she said at the time, dismissing the claim that Simpson had been targeted for prosecution because of his race.
She also shared the following message directed at Simpson himself: “You are not welcome here, you are not welcome in this country, you are not welcome on our airwaves, you are not welcome in our culture.”
After her firing, Bruce progressively became more and more conservative in her politics.
“She penned a 2000 Los Angeles Times op-ed defending anti-gay media personality Dr. Laura Schlessinger’s ‘absolute right to state [her] opinion’ after GLAAD called on Paramount to cancel Schlessinger’s show Dr. Laura,” Them magazine notes. “In 2002, Bruce published her book The New Thought Police, which purports to ‘expose the dangerous rise of Left-wing McCarthyism.’”
“In what undoubtedly will come as a surprise to many, this feminist gay activist supports Laura Schlessinger,” the Times op-ed reads. “It’s not her opinion about gays and lesbians I support, but rather her absolute right to state that opinion. As an activist and former radio talk show host, I know what it’s like to be attacked for speaking my mind when it hasn’t conformed with the currently ‘acceptable’ point of view.”
“I’ve also noticed a disturbing trend that has gripped almost every American: the fear of offending by forming and expressing an opinion. Every day, individuals are bombarded with messages from media, political interest groups and the power elite that speaking your mind will get you into trouble. It’s for this reason I grew uncomfortable with the ongoing campaign by gay activists to silence Dr. Laura,” it continues.
