Not sure how this happens, but I really hope for these people’s sake it happened fast.

From the Broward County Sheriff’s Department:

Around 11:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 6, Broward Sheriff’s Office Airport District deputies responded to a call regarding two individuals found in the landing gear area of a JetBlue aircraft at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

This tragic event has stumped officials, and they’re currently withholding the identities of the deceased until they figure out how they got into the landing gear in the first place.

The JetBlue plane had traveled from New York to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Monday, and the bodies were discovered during a routine post-flight maintenance check — the plane landing in Florida around 11 p.m.

Seems as if there’s no foul play here, though I could be wrong. A JetBlue spokesperson tells us,

This is a heartbreaking situation, and we are committed to working closely with authorities to support their efforts to understand how this occurred.

The investigation is ongoing.
